Anton Arcane here to creep you out!

Now I know I said I started in issue 12 but I saw these in my comic shop and decided what the hell Swamp-thing is one of my favourite DC characters and Anton Arcane is one of the best villains around so I bought issues 10 and 11 (11 I should have a review up tomorrow

    The Good

This issue is really dark Swamp-thing is generally very dark but this is never happy there is not a single shred of happiness in this book it's just Dark. This issue continues from the last with Swamp-thing very badly injured and has lost his heightened powers (the antlers) and he now has to go and regain his powers and strength. Now the way this issue is styled is so clever I won't give what happens away but this issue starts off with Swamp-thing sleeping while Anton Arcane lectures him about Abigail and how special she is and her connection to the rot and it is so good it is so creepy and really shows how nasty Anton Arcane is. We also get some insight in to the parliament of trees and what happened to them after the fight and well it's an interesting development and I'm interested to see how it goes after this. This issue ends as it was expected but who cares the build up is perfect! What more do you want. The art um... Is Amazing it is so atmospheric there is no blood but the colours and shadows really sets the tone so well and the bits with Swamp-thing and Anton Arcane are so cleverly drawn it's so murky and are some of the best pages I've seen in ages.

    The bad

Nothing well worth buying and I'm pleased I decided to pick it up.

    5 stars.

So, for starters, I hate the cover of this issue. The Swamp Thing covers have generally been outstanding, but this one is a huge miss. There's just so little to it. Swamp Thing and Anton Arcane are wrestling and taking up all the space. There's a bit of a background, but overall it's pretty boring. Not to mention that the posing feels incredibly wooded and static. There's no sense of motion, I feel like I'm looking at a picture of a figurine or something... OH WAIT. I see. It's a tribute cover.....

THE GOOD: I love the art in this issue. There is different artist and it's a very different style, but I really like it. Francesco Francavilla is an amazing artist and he can make things look very creepy. I love the opening and it definitely sets the tone for the whole issue. I also really like the colors in this issue as well. The story is as good as they come. We get to see Swamp Thing and Abby and it's really sweet but things quickly get dark and bloody. I really like how it starts off in the...
