    Better than the Graphic Novel

So I'll admit that I've been a marvel fan for over 30 years mostly despising DC but in the past year I've been spending at least 3:1 dollars on DC over Marvel. One reason is that the writing is fantastic another is that while I never enjoyed the DC comics, I did always enjoy the animated movies and shows. So obviously I saw this particular animated movie years ago but was not interested in reading the comic. Well, things changed and while I read that not only did they do a terrific job with the film (duh) that it was virtually identical to the 6 part graphic novel. "They" were WRONG! Yes, the plot lines are similar, yes the constant battles are similar and yes, President Luthor did place a bounty on Supes head. But in the film there was absolutely no mention of a connection between the meteor and Supes. Instead Luthor was playing on the notion that Supes killed Metallo who was part of the president's Secret Service. There are so many differences that I could honestly go on pointing them out for pages but the bottom line is that I was very disappointed in the comic vs the film. Most adaptations from DC that I've read have either had more detail in the books, parts that were completely edited out of the movie and/or just minor differences between the two (eg. Superman/Batam Apocalypse where Kara is reintroduced at paradise island as Supergirl to the entire lineup of DC heroes vs the film where Bats, Supes, Barda, WW amd the amazons were present). In all honesty, I felt as though the comic didn't seem to flow very well which was a big surprise considering the amazingly talented Loeb at the helm. The movie, however, removed some parts that I did like in the comic when the "kids" came to rescue Supes and Bats but it also just flowed together much more coherently than the comics did. I gave this movie 5 stars not only because it is a fantastic DC animated film (which earns 4 stars) but it also greatly surpasses the entirety of the graphic novel of the same title.

I really enjoyed this movie a lot.  Batman is my favorite DC Comics character, and Lex Luthor is one of my favorite bad guys.  I enjoyed seeing some of the lesser-known characters too, like the new Toyman.   SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content. Lex Luthor becoming President is a great plot; you can always count on Lex to be a real bad guy.  The reformation is never real. I liked this movie better than the previous ones (Green Lantern: First Flight, etc.).  There was some bad ...

Together Their the Perfect Team 0

By The Angry Comic Book Critic        This movie I flat out loved because it brought me back to one of the greatest places you can be when you've become a cynical adult your childhood. To me Batman and Superman the animated series where the embodiments of childhood a for a brief moment this film brought me back to the good old days when T.V had actually good shows and life didn't seem so damn complicated. This film stars three of the people who don't just act when they play these roles but a...
