    Why is it so hard to write a decent Superman comic?

    for my 5000th post, something to stir discussion. As a long standing fan, I am at my wits end with the current state of Superman comics. You get the odd good issue or two, but mostly its mediocrity...so, given that superman is the longest running most iconic of the DC/Marvel comics, why is it so hard for writers to pen a decent story?

    In fairness, this thread could be linked to two of my other favourite characters, Hulk and Spiderman lately...but the current Supes comics wind me up the most! Even more than Slott's Spiderman run and that is saying something!!
