i have read some he is a independent hero who does what is right even when its not the easy way out but how does that make him a dick.

Silver Age Superman was a con man.He did a lot of mean things to people.That's why people think he is a dick.

95% of comic books fans are idiots. 

Just for the record, Silver Age Superman was no dick either. Most of the covers from that time were compiled and taken out of context then made popular by the Superdickery site. And so a lot of people joke around about him being a dick. Unfortunately, an increasing amount of ignoramus think he really is a dick.

Because people can interprete his personality to being holier than thou.

I will say this, Red Hood & the Outlaws 14 is almost completely about the stereotype of Superman as a jerk.

I think it really comes down to the silver age Superman combined with how powerful and strong willed he is. Yeah, the silver age covers were hugely misleading, but he also did crap like marry Lois Lane without telling her his secret identity and forcing her to stay in the fortress of solitude, which is unconditional dickery, right there. But combine that old image (which people really, really, really cannot shake:see Robin's old costume and Aquaman only talks to fish) with him being a strong willed character with his own moral code, and people are likely to consider the character a dick.

I think on all counts Batman is much more of a dick than Superman will ever be.

6. Flash is a God
7. Aquaman is not cool
