@Lvenger: Thats true. I love it when obscure villains get the big bump. Like Hank Henshaw and Black Hand for instance.
Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18939 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
Who should take over Action Comics?
@Katie24: Action Comics hasn't undersold. It's DC's third biggest seller and is usually in the top 5 or 10 best selling monthly comics. Now Superman I agree with. Not only is it financially bad, it's creatively rubbish too. It would be great to see Cornell back on Action Comics, his Black Ring story was the reason I picked up Action Comics and the Reign of the Doomsdays Arc demonstrated he could write Superman wonderfully as well.
@sethysquare: Johns is good at doing that. He made Sinestro and Black Adam into badasses as well. So I'm sure he has a good idea with the Scavenger whoever he is. I'll do some research on him now.

I hate everyone who has mentioned Geoff Johns.
Azzarello or a complete random are my choices.
But Johns can write Superman well. Up, Up and Away, Last Son, Brainiac, the Legion of Superheroes story amongst others were all really great stories. Obviously he can't due to him writing Justice League, Green Lantern and Aquaman but though I am not one of them, many want Johns off Justice League.
He "used" to be able to write Superman. He turned him into a mindless brute in Justice League.

Johns off Justice League would be a disaster.
I disagree massively. There is no plot, no purpose and no progression in Justice League. It's all flair and no style, but I guess it comes down to preference.
@Lvenger: I know its selling well, but I don't think it lives up to its expectations. I love the idea of Superman being this working class hero, social justice guy, but I don't like Morrisons execution of the story. I don't think Morrison's writing style works well with super hero comics and as of lately his writing comes of as quite pompous and pretentious. In my opinion, Grant Morrison rarely lives up to his own hype.
@Katie24: Well to each their own I suppose. I'm quite liking Morrison's take on Superman. The only time his writing has come of as pompous and pretentious was issue 9 which involved the multiverse, a machine that could bring thoughts to life and subtle suggestions that the twisting of the evil Superman by the corporations acts as a metaphor for the way National Comics bought and changed Superman completely differently to the original creators. That was the most Morrison issue yet and although he's a big fan of writing about multiverse concepts, I haven't been able to get into any of his work in that regard.
@Deranged Midget: I prefer to think of him as the quiet one. Especially in the last two issues. He did act like a bit of a brute in the origin story I have to say.
People said no to Waid and Synder, so I really don't know who then. I really don't know of any other high profile talent that fits with Superman, can write him well, or hasn't already written him.
@Lvenger: Quiet? Sure, but that's because Johns couldn't give a damn about Superman. He's too busy putting all the spotlight on Batman, Hal, and Flash.
Thing is...Its Superman. DC doesn't "need" a big time writer to make it work or sell.
DC should either bring a star writer who knows the character but still hasn't had a long run (Waid) or a good newcomer like Fisch or an independent star

Mindless brute???
That sounds a little misconceived.
I stick by what I said.
I want someone to write AC that is going to try and make it the run of a lifetime. I don't think they need to put the best name on the title. They need to put the hungry team on the job and let them go. Comic books get old when it is always the same tired people doing everything.
@Deranged Midget: In terms of personality, I suppose you're right. But 9 and 10 saw Superman get a few characterisation moments. All Johns needs to do is have a few more of those in every issue instead of slightly more action and Justice League will be truly good once again. IMO of course.
@sethysquare: Have you bothered to read Justice League? He hasn't done anything to prove otherwise. He attacked and was willing to "kill" Batman and Green Lantern for no apparent reason. He floats around constantly with little to nothing said.
It's easily the worst written incarnation of the character.
@Deranged Midget: Obviously I read Justice League. So anyone that has a different opinion than yours is wrong? Also, he never wanted or was willing to "kill" batman and green lantern for no apparent reason. Showing signs of aggression and showing that he was about to have a fatal blow is totally different. There was no point in the book where he wanted or was willing to kill batman and green lantern.
Also, the book is split between 7 members, Steve Trevor, the villain and Billy Batson. Everyone had an equal chance to talk, just not alot due to how much panel time was divided. He did not just float around constantly with nothing to say.
@sethysquare: No, I merely stated my thoughts as pure preference. I'm not a fan of the way Johns writes Superman and I'm not really a fan of him in general.@sethysquare said:

You mean besides the blatant lack of reason for why he attacks Hal and Batman head on with extreme aggressiveness? My biggest problem with the book is that there's no purpose to it. The majority of the issues have all been dedicated to action scenes, and while that's not a bad thing, there's literally no story to back it up. @sethysquare said:

I disagree. Out of all the members, Superman alongside Aquaman, have had the least amount of time to talk. The spotlight has been largely focused towards Batman, Hal and Barry.

okay you dont like geoff johns and will not accept his work. understand.
I'd like Geoff Johns to take up Action once he decides to end his run with one of the other titles he's currently working with.
Sure RT MrPointy27: Ssnyder1835 would you ever write a Superman book?
@sethysquare: he has said numerous times that he would love to write Superman, and i would love to see his take... but last week on twitter he also said, that while he's writing batman, he wouldn't write Superman, and that he will be writing batman until he runs out of stories he wants to tell. now the courts wrapped up, there the harper one-shot, then zero issue, then a 6 month joker storyline, and he's also already said that he'll be doing another arc after that about the riddler... so if he ever des write superman... it'll be a long way off.
@NewKid: or he can give up writing Swamp Thing, let Jeff Lemere take over since Jeff just ended his Sweet Tooth story then start writing Superman.
Thats exactly who I thought ofWhat about Darwyn Cooke?
@sethysquare: What do you think?
@Jonny_Anonymous: He was supposed to do back ups. But they swapped him out with Sholly Fisch because he had different ideas on what to do with Superman. So I hope he considers again.
Oh really? It would be pretty cool *fingers crossed*@Jonny_Anonymous: He was supposed to do back ups. But they swapped him out with Sholly Fisch because he had different ideas on what to do with Superman. So I hope he considers again.
I doubt Waid will write for Daredevil, Hulk and his own comic publisher as well as Superman also I don't think he wants to work for DC again@Nighthunter said:
Mark Waid
Come on, its about damn time
Yes sir.
DC should grab Nick Spencer from Marvel (depending when his contract is up). Marvel have not been using him since he was taken off Ultimate X-Men and Iron man 2.0 finished. He wrapped up his second stint on T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents and Thief of Thieves has finished. He's obviously worked for DC before and his only current ongoing is Morning Glories at Image.
Here's an excerpt from an interview from March 2011 about signing his marvel contract:
Spencer: Obviously I had a relationship at DC, and really enjoyed working with Will Moss in particular, and Matt Idelson, in the Superman office, and had been talking to Mike Marts over in the Bat-office. Really like all those guys, and they’re fantastic to work with. I was in one of those rare and awkward positions where you’ve got offers from both on the table, and you’re trying to weigh the good and the bad of both. And it took me a while to figure out exactly what was the right path.
DC GET SPENCER!
@matchesmalone21: Paul Cornell was with Action Comics for about a year. I guess they might have wanted to change things up. I don't think its that much exciting for Paul Cornell to work on supes again. I would love to see him work on another title. He is also writing his own book in vertigo. So he can take up perhaps just 1 more book.
