Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
It's too early to tell but he has great potential, his run started pretty strong and offered a characterazation of Superman we haven't seen in a while(Issue 26 is one of the best New 52 issues).
The reason behind the hype is that he came in a time when we lost hope about a good Superman title after the mess that was the Diggle/DC dispute, Lobdell on both Superman titles and Unchained didn't come out regularly, Pak and Kuder offered a good Superman title in a consistent schedule.
And no one call him one of the best Superman writers(maybe one day they will),well maybe except @theacidskull :-P
He's been vastly better than Lobdell and pretty much every other Superman writer in the New 52. Snyder and Morrison come close, but Pak's Superman is warm, caring and relatable while still carrying that roguish edge and swagger that came with the New 52.
It's too early to say but his Zero Year issue and the first arc of BM/SM were fantastic. They both show young Clark as a diamond in the rough. While I agree that the current arcs are a bit of a let down after his fantastic start, Im exited to see what he does Post Forever EVil and what he will contribute to the Doomsday arc.
