Elseworlds, Superman... These two things go great together, but which Superman Elseworld is the greatest? Elseworlds that are not just about Superman can be accepted as long as Superman is featured for more than just one page(Clark Kent counts!).
Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18939 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
What is the best Superman Elseworld?
All Star
I don't know about you, but I like to think of All Star as being canon. It's just the last Superman story ever. It might as well be an elseworlds tale, and if it is then that's my pick.
I pick Kingdom Come if that's elseworlds.
@spinningbirdcake: Since there are many other comics about how Superman dies technically it is an Elseworld.
one of my favorites.
@selinawayne: What is that one?
Ironically the movie that got me into comics (Kick Ass) was written by the same guy who wrote my all time favorite Superman/Lex Luthor story, Red Son. I must have read that TPB like 5 times already.
one of my favorites.
WHat is this?
Sometimes I think that Kingdome Come and All-Star are not the elseworlds, but more like ultimate future of mainstream Superman in Pre-New-52. If so, then I choose Superman: Red Son.

Check the bottom of the picture. Instead of sending his son to Earth, Jor-El invades it and enslaves humanity. Kal-El and Bruce Wayne disagree with that.
I've always been confused, what exactly classified as Elseworld, I always thought it was just under the actual "Elseworld" title that DC put out, or is it everything that's considered non-cannon?
The best Elseworlds title is definitely Kingdom Come for me, Red Son is good but Kingdom Come is legendary, but my favorite Superman story is All Star Superman

KC basically is a future Post-Crisis Superman. That's what the sequel showed anyways. New-52 Superman being KC Superman would be interesting.

One of the possible futures, in any case.

For that New-52 Superman’s character would need some adjustments, but in the end it could work IMO.
@sanohibiki: If New-52 Superman heads into a Post-Crisis ish type of character, then yes it could definitely work. Supposedly the Batman vs Superman movie takes inspiration from Kingdom Come.

Just after couple decades of maturation and earning trust of humanity (because right now, as Pak said, I think the New 52 has been a really place for me to come in, to write the character when not everybody is on his side. He has strong opponents who are working against him, not just physically, but on every level. When people don’t trust him and actively spreading fear and suspicion of him, that gives you a character who’s under the gun. He has more of an underdog feel, and is frankly more interesting to write. I’m very grateful for that set-up).

Ugh, rumors… There were so much of them already that I’m planning to guard myself against all “news” about MOS 2, BM vs SM or whatever it would be named for year at least.

Elseworlds was a line that DC published as you probably know. But the OP probably means your favorite "what if".
Now I know that this will stir up some emotions but Dark knight returns Superman I actually like, especially in the written layout in the back of the book, which is leagues better than the actual comic
Seriously, loving this version
Not the "Best" but my current favorite, he is even colder than Injustice Superman.
