So I am plundering weather or not to get Last son and I was wondering if it was any good. So can any of my fellow viners help me out on this.
Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18885 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
What is Last Son like ?
It was pretty good. Not brilliant but solid.
It was nice to see Clark and Lois act like a family with the child.
This and the interactions between the villains towards the end of the story were the highlights for me.
@smashbrawler: does it mostly follow supes or does it mostly follow the villains ?
@z3ro180: Superman, although the villains I'm talking about aren't the antagonists of the story. I can't say more without spoiling the entire thing.
@smashbrawler: by can I assume myou mean Can't :) LOL sorry couldn't resist. Any way I know who's kid Chris is but the over all story is a mystery to me so is the story worth the money ?
@z3ro180: Ha, yeah, that's what I meant. If you know who Chris' real parents are, then those are the antagonists. The villains I'm talking about are... other characters that appear later on.
Anyway, it's definitely worth a read. Like I said, it's a very solid story and a strong beginning to Johns' Action Comics run.
@smashbrawler: what about secret origin and birth right how are they ?
@z3ro180: I found Secret Origin to be immensely boring. If you really liked the Donner movies you might like it, but I personally did like the Donner movies and still found it a really, really boring origin story that didn't really add anything new. Some other people did like it so you may want to look for other opinions before deciding whether to give this one a shot or not.
Birthright is the best Superman origin story yet, in my opinion of course. The way Waid modernized Superman's beginnings is quite clever and still holds up to this very day. The weaker part is the art, which is by Leinil Francis Yu. This is probably Yu's weaker job, which is ironic if we consider Superman's gravitas.
Hmm, might give it a shot, I've heard good things about him.
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but what did everyone else think about Up, Up and Away? Been contemplating picking up that one.
Awesome Story. It is my favorite from Geoff's run.
Seeing Superman getting his powers back after IC
Seeing Clark investigating intergang.
Lex rise to power using Kryptonian tech.
I definetely recommend it.
@squalleon Ooh sounds fun, thanks for the recommend. I'll pick it up.
@z3ro180 Would a follow make you feel better? ;D
