Is there a type of sun or solar radiation that makes normal humans get Yellow-Sun Kryptonian Powers? Has there ever been an alternate universe story involving this? It'd make for an interesting plot if there was a planet where say, Batman and Green Arrow gained Superman's powers due to that planet's Sun.
Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18939 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
Types of Solar Radiation
The only way humans have gotten Kryptonian powers have been by specially forumated serums that give them powers under a yellow sun for 24 hours or by a Kryptonian getting doused in solar energy from a blue sun and then using some special vision powers to give humans Kryptonian powers for a brief period.
There's also the Russian Zod, who gained Kryptonian powers from a red sun, but that was due to his parents being irradiated by Kryptonite and some other stuff.
@Nightwing4:
Superman/Batman Vol 1 53 - 56

Superman has his power transferred to Batman via a Curse.
There is also Zur-En-Arrh where earth's Batman got Super powers on the planet.
I don't think there has ever been anything unless it was Magic or Science that gave Humans Kryptonian powers. There have been a few Human Super Women through science as well.

yellow - good
blue - More powerfull
red- bad
Orange - Half power
White - Godly???
but the question is if there are ways to power normal humans powers with the sun ;)
Actually, Pa Kent was powered by a Blue Sun. Not even Doomsday couldn't hurt him.@Rumble Man said:

Ugh! That "color of the sun" crap drives me up the walls. You never really see that garbage in Marvel. In their universe, if you're solar powered, you're solar powered.
If there weren't discrepancies between radiation types, then Krypton (and in particular its exploding) would have made zero sense. The Kryptonians would have laughed it off and conquered another planet. Not to mention, what motivation does a species have to build shelter if they are invulnerable? There's no way Krypton would have been so scientifically advanced. If anything, they'd be behind Earth.

It beats living on the streets....Abstracts are a bunch of bums ....

Did he get zapped from Superman?
@FadeToBlackBolt: You're missing the point. 1st of all, when physicist talk about "radiation types" it's usually alpha, beta, x-ray, or gamma. When it comes to stellar classification astronomers use O, B, A, F, G, K, and M. Color is only determined by surface temperature, because stars approximate black body radiators. Red supergiants are "red" because their energy is being released over a larger surface area, but they release a great deal more energy than our own sun...which is white when viewed from space. Antares has a visual luminosity 10,000 times greater than our sun, and a bolometric luminosity about 65,000 times higher since a large part of it's energy is in the infared. A better thing to say would be our sun emits more of it's emergy in the UV than Rao did. But "red solar radiation" and "yellow solar radiation"? It's writing from ignorance.
@hadrian29: Ah, you're speaking outside of my wheelhouse now lol
It's just how DC differentiates, it might be out of ignorance as you said, but it's not really hurting, and it's a requirement that they have a "good sun" and "bad sun" radiation for Kryptonians. Might be best to file it under the "Scientific Inaccuracies That Just Work in Comic Land" folder.
@FadeToBlackBolt: I don't know. I personally think it is hurting. I leads to plots involving traps with "red sun lamps" and such. "Ah ha Man of Steel! Fall before my mighty strobe light that I slapped a red lense onto!" A "good sun/bad sun" differentiation could be had using meaningful differences between classes of stars. The UV/Infared difference is the one that spings to mind immediately. If you wanna make the difference a measure of raw energy output instead, just make Rao a red dwarf instead of a red supergiant. That way you don't get Superman or any Kryptonian getting feebed in a room full of red lava lamps. lol
