I like THAT take on the New 52 look. Why? Lines yes but it's less armor and more... Space-suit. Like it's TRYING to go for a space-suit look.

Seriously, I don't even know, what's worse, art style or design, but combined, they make me want to bleach my eyes and neuralyze my brain (MIB-style) to forget it.

That's why I liked Ultraman's New 52 Suit. It ditched anything armor related for simplistic classic Super-hero spandex.

I really like how Aaron Kuder drew it in Action Comics (before Truth).

I can't see the appeal myself. Sure it moves away from the shiny chrome armour towards the flying space man suit look for Superman but the lines on the costume are still horrendous, possibly worse than on the Lee New 52 design, the sleeves look kind of awkwardly drawn plus those knee pads are way too tacky for my taste. Honestly, the non Romita Jr drawn design for New 52 Superman's costume still look so much better. Even Romita Jr's take on it appears to be better drawn for me and that's saying something.

The Godfall suit would also be cool.

And if changes were to be made, they could simply maintain the red, change the white for yellow, and the black/grey for blue/dark blue.

I just saw the Jim Lee Earth-2 Superman design on the left and I say it looks a thousand times better than what we actually got (On the right)

Jim Lee's design just looks much more warm, new, and Super-hero-y than what we actually got, which was too metallic and shiny for my tastes. The Belts could use a bit more yellow in the center, though, like a belt buckle.

Nu2 and Man of Steel look too much like Ultraman and less like Superman.

@playswithsquirrels: imo this costume is a good one and also a really good compromise between the jim lee's costume and the classical one.

@zandalf: It's better than Jim Lee's costume design for sure, but the piping throughout is unnecessary and awful, and for some reason his sleeves go past his wrists. They're simple problems that get in the way of what can be a great costume. Keep it clean, keep it simple. It's why Superman's costume has been mostly unchanged for 70+ years.

@playswithsquirrels: it's not that the current costume is complicated though , i like those lines and the "long" sleeves too....but here we are in the the subjective field and there is no escaping that, tastes are different.
