Normally I would just post this in the SM/WW boards but when I found out how the voting works, how large it is and who is voting I couldn't resist boasting about it. So apparently the voters are schools (77+ since 2012). They allow kids to read the books and then vote on which one they prefer. The book who won the 2015 Excelsior Award was none other than the fist Volume of Superman/Wonder WOman. 2nd place went to Ms. Marvel and 3rd to All New Ghost Rider. So congrats to Charles Soule and Tony Daniel for this win.

So teachers, librarians and Kids...ie teenagers because there is a separate prize for younger readers from over 77 schools were involved in the voting process? That is really really heartening to read and hear. One that they putting the comic medium in schools and two, introducing new fans to DC and Marvel. And what a difference to see how material is looked at when it is not cynical reviewers or adult comic readers who I think after a while loose that sense of wonder because they have been exposed to a lot of material over the years and of course there are, sour shippers and haters who hate for no reason other than it's what they don't want.

Congrats to the SM/WW creative team.

Not surprised from the result. Sm/Ww is after all a teen targeted book. Its just what the Anime raised generation would want to read.

In the beginning I thought Ms.Marvel would win but then I remember Sm/Ww has a bigger audience.

@saintwildcard: I just really don't care about Superman/Wonder Woman anymore. I dislike the concept, but I lack the inclination to criticize it because it doesn't affect or cross over into the books DC's putting out right now that I think are really good. So I just ignore it. I like Pak's Superman so I read that, and Wonder Woman usually isn't even mentioned there. It's certainly the case that every Wonder Woman book on the market now is just trash, but I can pass on Wonder Woman books without a problem. Replacing WW and SM/WW on my Comixology list with Midnighter and Martian Manhunter is a great swap as far as I'm concerned.

So if you were expecting a more thorough or boisterous complaint, sorry to disappoint. I'm sure someone or the other will have that covered though.

I'm not surprised; SM/WW relationship is targeted at tweens, so I wouldn't be surprised if teens put that aspect above great storytelling/character depth.

Exactly. The same bunch would've named Taylor Swift the world's greatest lyrical genius. The SMWW shippers should actually be rather embarrassed that their taste in literature aligns with that of little children

No problem with them winning the award, I really don't like the title but others do and I've discovered that I'm just a minority. Doesn't make my opinion any less or make it worthy of scorn or ridicule. But I'm sure some will exult and feel vindicated that they were right and others were wrong. Some people need something to make themselves feel superior.

Gotta wonder what the kids will think about Lois stabbing Clark in the back in the current storyline though.

As are many of the rated T books by DC, Einstein. Sorry the ones you think worthy did not catch their eye. Students and adults teachers and librarians are involved. But typical of the trolling crew. Dismissing the opinion of others and not having a gracious bone in your negative bodies to not look at anything in a positive way.

Yeah the demographic that loves Twilight.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it was our generation that put Twilight on the map. They're Twilight is 50 Shades. I dislike both, but we have to own up to our mistakes. We let Twilight happen. I'm sorry, and I hope we never do it again. Now them...they need to stop that 50 Shades of Crap.

To be fair, children are actually pretty bright, and I've seen some dumb adults make horrible decisions. Would your opinion of these kids changed if they liked something like...Y: The Last Man or The Killing Joke?

@brunnhilde: Call it whatever you want, but we just wanted Superman to have some fun adventures with Diana, but Wonder Woman fans ruin it.

So, yes, you guys can have your wet blanket back. If we wanted Superman with an iconic woman who writers couldnt have fun with we already had Lois Lame.

You guys can take your toys and go back to your side of the playground now. I was happy this won because it proved that people enjoy Superman with super-women, not because I care much for them as a couple.

@scouterv: My opinion is that a teens choice award is neither a very meaningful distinction nor a barometer of quality. Obviously the best known heroes in the world went in with a better chance of winning than Kamala Kan and Rocket Girl. Plus adolescents have a sweet tooth for lame relationships, we all know that.

    I chose option b)

It'a simple Arch, Taste in Music=/=Taste in Story. Your argument is as flawed as saying, because you hate pizza and the young kids voted it the best food, they don't know anything about art. It's a false equivalence. But let me got further and explain to you where you failed the test, you and @frozen. I would first like to say that while I do feel a bit of joy that the book won the contest, that doesn't make the book better or worse. I would never quote this contest in a debate about quality cus I just don't believe in that type of debating strategy. So this thread wasn't to gloat that the book won, cus I could have posted that in the SM/WW board, but it was a trap to see who would be so brash and cruel as to bash the kids in a contest created for good intentions? And it looks like several people did, I am both laughing and filled with disappointment. The correct and humble reply if you don't like the book would have been "So?" or "Whatever", the wrong answer is "These kids are dumb and their opinions don't matter". Do you see the problem Archi? Probably not. This contest was created to encourage kids to read and knowing Stan Lee, it was to get more kids into the rich mans/dying medium that is comics. A great purpose I'd say. I understand not liking a book, I for one hate several books that people consider popular, but I never imply that the people who do like them are dumb or don't know any better. Cus that would make me a bad person.
