Superman has to share a movie with other DC properties to compete with the Avengers, it's obvious they don't trust him enough to have a commercial success with only his world and established franchises elements. I mean look at Harry Potter, he was competing(before the avengers) against star wars and he himself still is the most popular solo movie franchise in the world.

Well, he certainly isn't getting the respect he deserves.

I'm not sure Man of Steel qualifies. Box office - sure, it made bank. But in terms of portrayal, we got an emo, weak, wussy, unintelligent punching bag Superman. That movie did more to boost Faora's popularity and badassery cred, and to a lesser extent, Jor-El's, than it did to boost Superman's.

Batman Begins gave us mostly badass, competent Batman. The fact that he later became a reactive, passive, whiny character doesn't nullify that. So did the Spider-Man films. So did Iron Man. And the comics - I honestly don't see much difference between New 52 and Pre-Flashpoint Superman. He might be younger and brasher, but he isn't much more cooler. Heck, in Action Comics, Greg Pak seems to be more interested in Lana Lang's character, and Superman/Wonder Woman seems to be focused more on establishing Wonder Woman's awesomeness than anything else.
