'Superman: Man of Steel' Set Photos Reveal More Costume Changes
I can live with it, kind of, I'm all for trying out new ideas - Cavill is a great choice for Superman and the S looks very good. But I'm not going to lie - I miss those red shorts. If anything to break up all that damn blue.
"Ohh it's so ugly! He's got no overwear! Boo Hoo! The fabric is so spidermanish! Waaaaahh! He's too padded! Booooo! Snyder sucks! I hate this Brit!!!"
I'm tired of all these complaints even before the release! Whine about this. Whine about that. Maybe it will suck. Or maybe it won't. Wait for the film, and on the mean time, get a life!
I applaud the ones with open minds to accept the changes. Also to the ones that reserve judgement until the final product comes out. Kudos to you people.
superman routh was a good choice, looked like a good comic style supes most people can relate too, this guy might be fine, but,,,,,,,,,,why change what we see in the comics??? thought thats what a comic book film is all about no? to give us the pleasure of seeing a hero we read come to life on the screen? also superman returns would of been great if we had a decent story with a decent foe!! lex again and again,,,,,,,,anyone know who he fights in this film?
why change what we see in the comics??? thought thats what a comic book film is all about no? to give us the pleasure of seeing a hero we read come to life on the screen?I would agree in the case of Superman but this is subjective. Do you really want to see a yellow-spandex Wolverine? Or a cloth-costumed Batman ala-Adam West?
Or a cloth-costumed Batman ala-Adam West?I'd watch it for the nostalgia factor :p
Then this is for you!@ssejllenrad said:

I'm so off-topic... :D
this aint about other heroes,so supermans outfit in the comic is poop? worked on the original films, and superman returns, its getting to the point where he might not even look like the comic superman, may as well called the film "superguy man of hard stuff" perhaps the guys who make it should put more into the stories and things that relate to the comics, not the "hey lets make him look like this" and people will say how cool we are!! i sorta would like superman from the comics with a great story line to watch. not hollywood hybrids, but thats just me.
His costume seems a bit tight. But it's modern-day, it needed a revamp, a character can be great in his/her prime. But he needs to be updated sometimes, take a change, try something new, take risks. I'm happy with that costume, but it's highly possible that, that costume can be just a proto-type, and it could just be a try-out.

No, if there is one thing they and the new design is right about, no briefs. They were outdated and added nothing to uniform. If you have a hard time no staring at the dude's crotch, that is all you.
I think the new suit looks great. I am assuming the cape less scenes are the result of the cape having been lost in a fight but I think if that is the case I ripped cape would have been better.
One thing is certain, dude looks good in that suit. He should start his own exercise video.
and i totally agree with you on the lex redundentness lol i think one of the films he fought zod though?
yeah, lex, zod and co,a super computer and nuclear man??? but then lex again, hoping no lex in this one, doomsday would be great, but cant see that happening,if i could pick id love to see bizzaro or black adam or darkseid, just as long as we see tons of fighting and feats that show us why hes called superman, action in film 75%,25% talking lol.
I am ok with the suit, it is not such a big change that everyone should be too upset, but is still somewhat of an update...
Chain Mail? Looks more like what Cap would look like. But then the Spider-Man one has the same feel for me to :/
What's wrong with good old fashion cloth costumes? All this plastic makes me feel real sorry for these actors......
Yes, I'll be seeing all these movies as soon as I can.......I'll just have to get over myself, lol.
Not a fan of the costume! Change isn't always a bad thing but this almost looks like a futuristic Superman. They might as well go ahead and do a Godfall story costume here. Okay it's not that drastic but still it's just not Superman. I was just on IMDB and people are all kinds of excited for the new suit though. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0770828/board/nest/187780144
I will give this a thumbs up. Cavill isnt a bad looking Superman. Though I always wonder why they always slick his hair back. It would be nice if they could at least make him look more like today's Superman who hair is a bit more casual and those additonal suit mods they should be a red instead of just straight blue.
Over nine pages of people flipping out over a bulge. Grow up folks, I figured it's about time. I'm sure most of you who are bothered this couldn't finish reading the Watchmen cause of Manhattan. It's not a big deal, and should be EXPECTED since he wears such tight clothes.

Few people really care about Dr. Manhattan (but yes, I was disturbed). Superman however, should not be the type of hero that distracts you with his anatomical realism. It's very distracting, especially when all I want to see is Superman punch things.
Are you kidding me? Yeah comc fans were well prepared for it and most weren't bothered, but A LOT of people were indeed distracted by it, which is stupid. If you find this costume distracting at all...the problem is with YOU, not the costume.
@NightFang: I agree with most of your ideas. I especially like pic 4; although do lighten the "red" a bit (purple, nah). I would love see a more moderate approach combining the basic ideas in the last film with what I see here. That would be perfect. The idea of giving the costume some texture is a very good one. With all due respect ( especially to the late actor, who was a wonderful Superman for the time), Christopher Reeve's Superman suit today would look like it came out of a cartoon, or an expensive Halloween costume. Some change IS needed. The new actor, by the way, looks GREAT! He is the first one to play the role, that I can truly believe physically is Superman; but he needs a "better" suit.
I think the suit is a great variation. The texture could be used to explain why the common material doesn't burn or become ripped from the disasters that Superman faces. Screen Rant had an excellent shot also of Supes in new suit. I hate to say that I miss the briefs but I kinda do.
Some of these comments are ridiculous. Who gives a fuck about his muscles? I'm not going to watch a movie and say "OH MY GOD! MUSCLES!" that's stupid.
But the costume...I just, hate it. The fake arm muscle parts...how am I supposed to believe Ma Kent made that? Unless Jor-El (who happened to know his suit size) sent with him, or it was a tiny suit that grows to his body size, which wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. It's just...uurgh! Why does Warner insist on listening to all of these Nolan fanboys?

It's Kryptonian in origin. Check the Russell Crowe pics. His suit under his robes are similar to what Cavill is wearing.
This is awesome! I just saw the Immortals on Monday and Cavil was fantastic. He looks the part of Superman. People are going to complain regardless so fuck em. Cavil has the look and the physique to pull off the Man of Steel, the Man of Tomorrow! Oh, he can also act! HELL YEAH! I liked the idea of red accents instead of the muted costume, but eh, it looks great as it is. I hope this movie comes out soon. I don't want to wait until 2013 or '14. Now lets see Amy Adams as a convincing Lois Lane. Bring on the black hair dye and the surly attitude!
