Τhe title is misleading but from the OP, I guess it is a story tournament. And with that knowledge, I still don't get the third option :P

No matter how much I try, I still can’t figure out logic behind third option...

Well, even considering that I personally wouldn’t describe remaining issues as epitome of boyscoutness, All-Star Superman touched upon such themes in more details/done it slightly better.
