    Just to note.

This is the second time Superman's identity is compromised in the New 52. Not a bad thing, just to note.

I think the haircut is like this to show the difference between his Clark and Supes persona's OR Superman's hair mildly burned off :P

Next one might even be The American Way, though I prefer Superman as a global and humanitarian hero, not a poster child of America. Captain America can fill that niche better.

I'm still going to wait and see what Pak and Kuder have to offer in their June solicits but I must admit, Yang's interview and solicit has intrigued me about what his Superman run will be, as I knew he would. I do have a gut instinct that Yang might plan on revealing Clark Kent = Superman to the world but this could be a curveball. Romita Jr's cover looks markedly better than his usual stuff and I might be able to stomach it if Yang delivers a strong story.

It does but DC have played the bait and switch game before. They almost conned fans into thinking Catwoman had died, only to reveal it was MMH posing as Selina.

How do you figure that? If anything, GLY is going to ensure Romita Jr doesn't drive away so many Superman fans. Yang is a critically acclaimed book writer, cartoonist and comic writer with a good angle on Superman's character, that of Superman as the Immigrant. Yang has a solid fanbase which are very likely to boost the Superman series' sales back to high numbers again.

@lvenger: right, but Romita kept Geoff from reaching 50,000 with this book. I think he only peaked twice thanks to Romita, whose art has been the main reason many people didn't jump on board Geoff's run.

Yang, as good as he might be, isn't as popular as Geoff or as widely known as Romita is widely known for his bad art. I can see this book dipping back down to the 30k again and GLY will get blamed, even though it's Romita's fault.

@superguy1591: He's also considered to be a good artist by a lot of people. Don't ask me why, I don't agree, but he is considered an asset in some sense, otherwise DC wouldn't have gotten him to draw Superman. Moreover, Yang can attract a new audience to bring sales up that Romita couldn't manage.

Yang said Jimmy is heavily involved in the book and he is his current favorite character from Supes supporting cast. Also Jimmy knowing about Clark's ID was something tha Johns' wanted for his run. Yang isn't obligated to follow Johns' plans.

And CONSIDERING, Yang on the title and post-Convergence is supposed to bring a breath of new air, it would be a shame to be a slave to previous runs.
And its not like this is the first time a plot is dropped in the N52.

New suit once again, and new air style. Not only that Superman looks way younger.

No way. Thats just silly talk.

Yang said he had plans for Supes involving his new power and his reveal in Jimmy Olsen. So except if BA Supes was the one who developed the Super flare and told Jimmy his secret then I don't see a possibility.

I get it. Like me your keeping your expectations low, just so in case the end result ends up being even worst than we imagine.

I really hope that doesn't happen, but seeing how comics both in DC and Marvel have been down some crazy paths, better to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

Its just that you can't really hope for something to be good without fully embrasing that belief.

Personally, like you, I have been disappointed so many times already that I don't get excited.

The worst thing is that I don't have any old stories to read. So I have to wait for the monthlies :( And considering the issue 40 of Superman will be written by JRJR(very low expectations) and then convergence comes for two months. I am gonna be out of stories to read.

Have read both. I mean nothing Superman related :P
Because I have plenty of choises otherwise. I am currently reading a very good greek Super-hero comic, which is supposed to collect the best issues from the a fictional company in the 60s(Beckly Cloonan took part on it too). Very good stuff.

Its a shame DC doesn't publish a wide range of tpbs for Supes as it does with Bats. I really want to see Roger Stern's runs fully collected.

Like with the new costume. Thats because of Romita's rendering.

I bet everyone will like it if it was done by Kuder or Reis(who already draws Supes hair short) or Fabok.

@squalleon: That wouldn't change my opinion on the hairstyle, but it would at least look better. Reis doesn't draw Supes with hair this short. Ever.
