I'll never forgive Johns for JRjr.

You act like it is his fault, while actually it is the other way around.

It was JRJR that came to DC and DC didn't trust JRJR with the writting duties so they brought it Johns. So in a sense, Johns saved you from a full JRJR title :P

He looks like a 90's kid

To be honest that makes sense. Thats were JRJR's art stopped evolving.

Trying not to spoil myself on the preview but if JRJR's art looks rushed, I'm yet again not impressed with that news.

@lvenger: His art in last issue was probably the best since his Superman debut. There were few inconsistencies but overall it was quite enjoyable. People just don't want to give him a chance.

Insert here another customary insult of JRJR’ art…

Not sure without reading whole issue, but it already looks like it would be letdown for me.

@deathfalcon182: The problem is that JRJR can be capable of good art but since the 21st Century began, he hasn't drawn anywhere close to his best. I've read almost all of the Johns/JR run and the art is sub-par at best. He even calls his art style "deadline style" nowadays.

Τοο true. It seems like another "de-powered Superman" issue.

To be honest the last page looks great. But the rest just not.

@lvenger: I agree, but it's improving definitely. From 32 to 38 i have seen some nice improvements in the way he draws. Post convergence I'm expecting him to keep this trend up. And with new Superman design and GLY on the title, hope it gets the best of his art. I'm not holding mt breath but one could always hope.

I don't know if its the way he draws the outfit but that forward attached cape makes it look like Superman is always hunching his shoulders.

@squalleon: I thought he wanted to draw Batman? How did he end up on Superman?

@squalleon: I thought he wanted to draw Batman? How did he end up on Superman?

DC couldn't/didn't give him Batman I guess, and then he said that he has a story in mind that "could be said with Superman".
Didio brought Johns in. And Johns said in an interview on the matter, "we wanted to do stories that could be said only with our heroes". And Johns later said that they crapped JRJR's story completely. They have mentioned that plenty of times in their first interviews.

@squalleon: I see, but why is he still on Superman? DC created like 5 new Batman books, surely an opening freed up.

I'm starting think he's on Superman because he's a "superstar" name who DC couldnt put on a lesser known character and DC gave him a "prove it" type deal on Superman.

He isn't on Batman because Batman has already two established creative teams while Superman struggles with sales and the creative direction is all over the place. Plus I guess for DC to make a contract with him they lured him with a name that will surely cause some talk and since batman was unavailable, JRJR went for the next best thing. Although I am not sure if he wanted Supes, cause he said he feels intimidated by the character, while Batman feels is easier because of the shadows and the street level JRJR is known for.
