Stanley Kubrick is possibly one of the greatest (if not) the greatest filmmaker of all time. Debatable? Yes, but I'm just stating facts here, and his resume says it all.

What if Stanley Kubrick directed Superman the Movie instead of Richard Donnar?

A Stanley Kubrick superhero movie of any kind would be really interesting if he had free hands to do as he wished.

It be less campy that's for sure. Well maybe not, at that time all Superman knew was camp.

Hardly. Zod was camp incarnate and Superman saving Lois by time traveling was in line with PC Superman pulling powers out his a$$

@saint_wildcard: Superman saving Lois was one of the more intense moments in the films. Sure the time travel was weird, but the scene itself was great.

Would you call Gotg or The Avengers campy? They had the same tone as the first 2 superman

films. Campy is Batman and Robin or 60's Batman. Superman 1 and 2 were never that bad.

This is a freaking hilarious idea.

Nope, being able to time travel out of the nowhere makes Lois death pointless. But again, it was made in a time where Superman was just like that. Powerful moment was the death, the fact that he got his way and smiled after he did was stupid.

I personally don't think they had the same tone so my answer is pointless. Dude who plays Loki admitted to taking ques from Zod though, which is probably why I took him just as serious.... which is not at all.

Varying levels of Camp dude, also just cus some campy movies sucked doesn't mean they all do.

It would be dogs**t. No way could Kubrick pull of a superhero movie nor would he want to.

@saint_wildcard: But is that really campy? Stupid? Sure. But heck, TDK had it's share of stupid moments. The Raimi trilogy was full of them, but why is it no one calls those films campy?

That's the thing, i don't even consider either film campy. Mainly because they have things to balance out the comedy and the stupid moments.

I hate how people often forgets Kubrick did comedy, heist and a bunch of things.

He put comedy in his movies, Lolita being the prime example.

People looks to believe Kubrick was monochromatic as a director.

He directed action scenes too and he invented the whole shaky camera work in war scenes, Spielberg just copy Kubrick action direction for Saving Private Ryan.

I've always wanted like an extremely artistic, majestic Superman where there is barely any dialogue and its like 90% awesome incredible shots where Superman's character is told through his facial expressions and actions. I could see Kubrick doing that perfectly.

Oh I know that he does comedy and other stuff, I was stating that Mr. Kubrick is a phenomenal filmmaker and he be a great choice to tackle a live action story of Superman in his own style.

But I think it would fit better with something like Watchmen

Yeah I could envision Brainiac being DC's version of Hal 9000.

Fun Fact: Corey Burton based his voice of Brainiac in Superman TAS on HAL9000 from 2001 A Space Odyssey
