Rocketed to Earth as an infant from the doomed planet of Krypton, young Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind from oppression while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
I've been watching early episodes of Smallville and Clark Kent and Lex Luthor are real good friends. In the Superman comic books were they also good friends or did they always not like each other?
Then, during the Silver Age (and the Bronze Age), it was retconned that Superboy and Lex Luthor were good friends until a lab accident left Lex bald and he blamed Clark for it.
Post-Crisis, no.
After Birthright, Clark and Lex were friends in Smallville again until that accident.
After Infinite Crisis, no, as revealed in Secret Origin.
