Let me start off by noting that nothing is wrong with Supermans current origin, but am I the only one who felt that the new film gave so much more depth to the character? The origin in the film gave me a whole new respect for Superman. From the beginning, he was destined for greatness as he carried the legacy of Krypton with him to Earth. Being the first natural born being on Krypton in Centuries, he was special upon birth, and the back story with Jor-El and Zod was classic... At least I think it was. What do you guys think?

Most of the stuff from the movie has already been done in the comics,So no. But, there is probably going to be some hothead writer in the future that completely rips off the movie.

Why not? The Big Two comic companies continually reboot everything anyway.

There was a lot of things the comics should take from the movie, the first and most important one would be that lois finds and figures clark is superman.that would change everything, hell you dont even need to make them in love, just have him come to Metropolis, and get a apartment and job, with her help, she could be his one confidant.either way,she needs to find out,and on her own

It's a good origin, let it be for the movies only. Pre 52 superman's origin changed 4 times in 20 years... Like wth! We don't need that again the only thing I wld really love is if Lois or anyone for that matter to find out who he.

In the new 52 Supergirl is disgusted by Conner because he is a clone so the MoS origin wouldn't really work without another major reboot of some kind.

As far as i know, Zod has not debuted in the New 52, so I think hecould have an origin similar to the movie. Zods feud with Jor-El seemed very well written. In fact, is their a Jor-El origin story????

@ssejllenrad: Sorry was counting the pre crisis origin by mistake, there was a superman issue pre-52 cant remember which one exactly but he recounts his origin in three different ways(this is before secret origin came out) including the pre crisis one,was apparently an effect of Superboy prime punching reality or something... but still changing his origin 3 times was still alot compared to other characters and i would really prefer it if Grant Morrison's initial arc remains unchanged.

Zod is getting a one-shot in September and we've already seen some of Jor-El's life in Action Comics.

Does anyone actually have any explicit attachment to his New52 origin over the film's origin? an origin is an origin, they should be worrying about moving him forward.

@LaserLambert yes, moving Superman forward should be their main concern, but the origin is also an important piece for the character. The film had an amazing back story for Zod, Jor-El, and Superman. The whole thing felt clean and natural as opposed to many movies butchering the origin story. I feel that when Zod debuts, they can really take inspiration from MoS and work with it. If they include Ursa, I'll be really excited. If they somehow tie in Faora, I'll be ecstatic ! That's just me though.

@emperorjosh: He appeared a little bit in Morrison's run and he's starring in a back-up story alongside Lara in current Action Comics. Haven't read much of that back-up though because I dropped the book after Diggle's Daniel's little stint was over.
