He tries to be human but isn't one. Maybe it's time that Superman wakes up and faces the true.

He was raised human, and believed he was one until he came of age. For all intents and purposes he is one.

I think the beauty is in the fact that the character acts and thinks like a human. I don't think he's in denial about it, cus that just makes him looks dumb.
