Adding scifi to Superman comics would be like adding butter to butter. It's pointless.

Superman comics need to explore more of supes scientific prowess and acomplishments. I'm a little tired of seeing superman being the muscle attack force, the guy that saves the world through sheer raw power.

Why not have Clark Kent saving and improving the world through scientific means and have Superman do what he does best, punching villains out cold, and being a symbol for hope, and the potential that each person has to be better.

So many great intergalactic villains in Superman rogues and we never see them outside of an alien invasion.

It also fits into the Trinity of DC:

Superman - Sci-Fi

Batman - Street Level

Wonder Woman - Mystical

I wouldn't want it any more then he is. what's killing him is us and same with Thor and anyone with that power set. Thor's best work happen's in Asgard and Clark when he's dying or fighting to death with or without powers.
