So since my finals are over i have been catching up on all the titles and after reading earth 2 i started wondering was the country of Dehrain destroyed because of the energy used by Superman to kill Steppenwolf or was the energy released as the result of the death of Steppenwolf, because on the next issue they really seem to emphasize the fact that he was a God.

The energy was a result of the death of Steppenwolf, not Superman's energy. The New Gods possess great power and this power releashed from Steppenwolf's body.

@squalleon: they are supposed to be powerful Gods but Steppenwolf didn't look like much. His only notable feat was killing the earth 1 WW from behind

@cloudzackvincent: I understand your confusion but Steppenwolf's limited feats don't correlate with the energy he released upon death. The power the New Gods are capable of housing is impressive indeed and Superman killing Steppenwolf unleashed that power.

@lvenger: ok thnks... and anyway i really want the New Gods to be powerful. At least the post relaunch Gods do look better than the their old designs... Desaad looks more menacing so does Steppenwolf. I mean some of Darkseid's elite like Kanto and Virman didnt look like Gods at all. Hoping to see Devilance's new design soon.
