My question pertains to The New 52 Superman Action Comics paperback Volume 3,

I have questions which apply to the same graphic novel compilation.

-Is the phantom zone villain Xa-Du caught before death, or afterwards?
In this volume, is he really undead, or not?

When he was sent to the phantom zone, he appeared normal.

-What is the deal about the energy radiating from his head in the exosuit?
Is the red energy he seems to radiate outside the phantom zone just red energy,
something like Nuclear Man, or not?

-Does the alien mirror exaggerate Xa-Du's appearence, in terms
of how potentially evil he could manage to be?

-What is his "living death", particularly? Is it just some state whereby the consciousness
is held separate to the physical manifestation of the body, whereby
Xa-Du may secondarily control individuals?
