Any genes that are compatible will be copied onto his genetic template and the medical systems will then be able to heal him. Most bipedal races in the galaxy are compatible but none are in range. Even Mars is too far. He warns that his new appearance might be an exact duplicate if the genetic damage is bad enough. He points to Clark, saying his medical systems identifies him as the best match in this crowd. Best, the outer appearance is similar to what he had before the attack.
