Off My Mind: How dumb can one character be?

Everyone in the DC universe KNOWS Superman, as he knows everyone who's anyone. And I know I've asked this question before but, how out of ALL the years he's existed has he never just went to any of the people he knows...and asked them to get rid of ALL the kryptonite on the planet? It's his ONLY weakness (other than solar energy depletion). So why has he never thought to do this?

@Rabbit_May_Cry: Cause all the bad guys with stock piles of it wouldn't give theirs up and the good guys need in case Superman goes nuts or gets mind controlled to do bad things it'd actually be pretty stupid for people to get rid of kryptonite cause then we'd be defenseless the next time someone like Zod popped up

@joshmightbe: Now we all know that Bruce's plot-fail utility belt would automatically have a chunk of it if any of that were to happen. And with the villains...you could easily use Superman as a decoy to get the villains to bring theirs out...then take it.

How can it be his only weakness if he's also weak against solar energy depletion? Let's not forget he also has a weakness to red sun radiation and he's vulnerable to magic-based attacks as well. He's not weak against magic, it's just he can be harmed by magic-based attacks.
