NYCC 2012 Exclusive: Scott Snyder and Jim Lee Talk Superman
Sounds like a pretty epic story! To me, this is what makes me want to read comic books. I don't want all the fancy gimmicks or re-boots to entice me to buy....all I want is quality writing and quality art- this is the heart of comic books.
Very excited for this. Good writers can make an old character feel new again- and I have faith in Snyder.
Jim Lee is a bonus!
im excited for this,but i hope scott doesnt turn into a geoff johns,and him and greg are still friends because i think thats probably the reason why batman has been so good.
Jim Lee's description of stepping back, and letting the full scope of Supes' powers be known is just the kind of story I would want for a Superman comic. And its awesome that this story will stand alone even if its still canon to what is going on. Wow, Diana is going to make an appearance in it and have a role. The new villain is what intrigues me though. Knowing Snyder it can be something that will represent Clark's worst fears. Can't wait to get this when it finally comes out!
Nearly one year later DC is beginning paying Superman respect. I want to buy this book next Wednesday! :)
I don't want to read superman, and while i having increasingly enjoyed Snyder, he is making me question if I want to read Superman and i don't enjoy it. His answers about Superman are simple but come off exactly how I would imagine an interesting story involving Superman would sound.
Of course Jim Lee is on everyone's dream list for their favorite comic.
Damn you both. Seriously. I feel sick inside.
By the way, I don't know who's design that is for the new images of Superman in the black outfit, but that is hands down the best redesign I have ever seen. Absolutely stellar design.
Im glad Snyder said he is going to make new enemies for Superman..if there is one thing that was uninteresting to me is that Superman doesnt have too many cool villains..like if you look at Batman or Spiderman i mean those guys are fairly easy to write because of so many different villains for the character to face off against meaning many story choices. Superman its difficult because his only true COOL arch nemisis is Lex. (and I would LOVE to see how Snyder writes Lex btw)
but my point is Superman NEEDs new villains! And with Snyder im sure he will make very interesting ones and with Jim lee on art, we are sure to get really cool Looking villains...man..this title is going to be awesome...i know people say wait until it comes out to judge it..but cmon..sometimes the creative team speaks for itself. both these guys have amazing resumes for me to look at and say YES, these are you're guys!..
I Love how Snyder still fanboys over the guys he works with :)
@judasnixon Dude you got a shout out lol

Still can't believe this is happening. Never really cared for Superman but, it looks like Snyder is about to change that.
shut up ur face. Superman has lots to be cared about. LOL.
I've heard some many good things about Scott and I want to just pick something he is writing and just read it. His attitude is making me a fan.
So what's gonna happen to Lobdell's superman?? hasn't been doing to well, so wouldn't be surprised if this becomes the flagship title for this awesome character. He deserves a great creative team of this magnitude... awestastic!!! Ahhhh, as long as Snyder stays on Batman i'm sweet.
Here's the comment:

"Dan Didio just got a "Suck it Marvel!" tramp stamp."
Great news. I think Superman has proven countless times that he's a great character, but mostly in "Elseworlds" and mimi/maxi-series. Less so in his regular titles. (Though I do think Morrison's Action has been brilliant at times, especially the first 5-6 issues.) If this is god, and "Man of Steel" is good, Superman can once again be the icon he should be. FWIW... the Cleveland airport now has a huge Superman display at the luggage terminals. (Siegel and Shuster created Superman in a Cleveland suburb called Glenville, in case ya didn't know.)

I'd have to agree with that. I think Snyder and Capullo are still good, but I really hope that Snyder doesn't get spread as thin as Johns has been.

All-Star Superman...that is all.
So is this an ongoing or a mini? Curious, because I want Snyder to write a Lex Luthor story. He gets villains.
It wasn't one of mine but I know the comment he was talking about.
Snyder is really cute, totally off topic I suppose but hey if there's a chance he's gonna read this
Sad to see American Vampire going on hiatus but I guess I can just replace it with MOS on my pull list.

Please no. He's been screwing with Batman in a bad way, I'd rather he not touch Superman. Court of Owls was trite, overrated and made a bunch of bad retcons. Please don't do that to Supes.
You stand alone on that opinion, Snyder's run on batman has been receiving almost universal praise, and trite? really?
trite/trīt/

The court was a new and interesting concept that was actually able to work better within Batman's ridiculous new 5 year time line then it would have been able to before the reboot. If your referring to Batman being pushed to his limits as overused he's a human being and that's what makes him interesting.
@MuyJingo You're the only one i know who doesn't like Snyder's Batman.
Can't wait what scott willl do with supes! :)
I'm sorta happy he's taking a break with American Vampire so that he can pick up some other stuff, but also so i can catch up on it too :P
I don't usually like Superman, but I am very excited. I love Snyder's work on Batman. My only worry with this arrangement was that he might ditch Batman to be on this project, so I was thrilled to hear him say that wasn't his plan. Lee will of course do a great job as well. Can't wait for this book!
Can't believe all this never cared for Superman but now I am cause of Snyder talk. If there was nothing to care about in Superman, why is Snyder writing him? Why did he say he was one of his favourite childhood heroes? All Snyder will do is hopefully showcase why Superman is an awesome character and still remains the greatest fictional hero.
@MisterKetch:
Court of Owls was not an original idea, it was trite. Yet another secret society that has always been there suddenly dedicated to planning the end of Batman. Really, that doesn't sound familiar to you? It was lacking in originality and overused...the damn thing went on for 10 issues and was an actual event.
He was pushed to his limits in an unbelievable way. Nightwing,Catwoman, all had no trouble defeating Talons. Bruce had a heck of a time.
@benette_rivera:
Not true. I made a post detailing the problems with the arc, and got a few who agreed with me. Not many, but a few.
