October 1965 - Dr. Xa-Du first inhabitant of the Phantom Zone

1982 - Martha and Johnathan Kent are married

1984 - Martha Kent starts hormone treatments for invitro fertilization

1985 - Martha Kent has a Miscarriage

July 1985 - Kal-El is born

October 31 1985 - Krypton is destroyed

Nov 1985 - Feb 1986 - Kal-El lands on Earth

between 2003 and 2005 - Clark Kent has sold or leased the Kent Farm and leaves Smallville

Summer/Fall 2005 - Clark arrives in Metropolis and debuts as Superman

Fall 2005 - Brainiac attacks and Superman finds Kandor as well as has a trip inside it and returns with the Phantom Zone projector.

between December 2005 and January 2006 - The Justice League forms

2006 - Superman moves to the fortress of solitude in the artic, givin the Brainiac satelite to the justice league

Oct 31 2006 - Xa-Du attempts to escape the phantom zone, but fails. Krypto is freed from phantom zone.

Almost all Superman appearances outside of his own and the superman family comics happens in 2011...because most comics in the DCnU take place in 2011.

The events of present day Superman happen in late/early 2011/2012 due to the fact that we have the date of Superboys release, a rough time span of Supergirl's actions and thus we're left with the beginning of Superman's first arcand ending to be encapsulated in the time frame of Kara's confusion and "few weeks" which must also have happened around new years of 2012.

Mission to Mar's from action Comics is in 2012 as the dialogue indicates he is well known and he has been to the place several times and given that the time scale makes it so this could only happen between 3 and 4 times the only way that it is possible for it to be a regular event is if it happens in the present.

For the mission to mars. in the second story, it stats that the red blur was superman LAST WEEK. So i assumed that it all happened right after one another not 5 years later.

The Kent stuff. Their exact dates are hard to figure and probably somewhat wrong, but in general they are right. It seems that in the dialogue when they are going through it they keep on saying "years" but if you read the narative they also say "2 years since married" "1 year since starting the treatment" it is possible that several years past between the points but it doesn't make much sense. They tried having a child for two years since they were married and were seeing a fertility specialist. At some time after that point they decided to take hormone enhancement drugs. If you read the narrative it wouldn't make much sense to that the time between what we see is years apart so we have to assume that the 2 years since marriage and then go to see the fertility specialist and then start the treatment all happens within, say, a 6 months to a year's time... Similarly, we get a time point of 1 year since starting the hormones placing it 1 to 2 years after the previous things we saw, and martha has a miscarriage and the go talk to the priest... and then they go see an adoption agency. It is possible that this takes place years apart but again I don't see this type of thing taking place more than several months apart at most... and while we don't have time statement between the adoption agency and the crashing of Kal-El's ship we have to assume that more than likely this is the drive home and not some point several months to years down the line. This would also make sense for a cover story for Clark (we adopted him and we were coming home from the adoption agency) All that is in Action #005

As to the date of Clarks arrival. It is clearly shown to be winter. which places it within a certain timeframe within the year. Traditionally Clark is said to be adopted, if I remember right, in January so I'd saying Jan 86 that is happening, but it's not entirely important where abouts in those 4 months this happens

What about Clark's birth year and month?

Star Bright, Star Light places Krypton's end 27 light years away which means it was destroyed 27 years ago.

Action 013 places the destruction on October 31

Supergirl...i believe 014 places Kal-El's birth 3 months prior to Krypton's destruction (or at least 3 months prior to her being knocked out)

27 years ago is 1985, 3 month before October 31 is July. Though again, there is some fudge factor.

Clark Selling the farm... He's 18 at least when he does it. There is someplace that talks about his living arrangements at that time and I believe he said something about him staying there like a year... Also we don't know when Clark started school so it is possible he started a year early or later, but in general it was 18 years after is arrival and happened before he arrived in metropolis placing it between 2003 and 2005. we also don't know if clark went to college and because of that he could have gone straight from the events we see in the back up to the his arrival in Metropolis OR he could have gone to college first or he could gone to college and then sold the farm. That's unknown.

The Placement of the events before Justice League formation... There is a few clues in the placement of the JL formation. There a checkout slip thing in a back up read which places the formation of the JL before Dec 2006. The means that the book had to have been written earlier that year and published by Dec 06 which places the date of the events early in the year but there is a key to the date that is an offhand remark, but geoff Johns would know when it would take place and that is Victor Stone's football game is the State Championship. I asked earlier when this takes place because I don't know sports and I found out that this happens in December, Early January, more likely December. This we place the formation of the JL in December 05, but allow for flub of Jan 06. After the formation of the JL Superman gives the satellite to the JL. This establishes that the events I stated occur before that event. Further. the events of Action 013 says that Superman explored Kandor a year ago which roughly places those events in the fall of 05. and Action 13 is established as Oct 31, 06.

As to the placement of 2011/2012.

Several dates are given throughout Batman comics as 2011. A death in the Family story arch takes place 1 year after Detective Comics 001 which places it in 2012. The only way to really interpret this is that all the events in the Bat books more or less happen in 2011 up until Death in the Family establishes it is 2012, but it doesn't establish when in 2011 or 2012 these events happen. If I remember right 'Tec 001 it is wintery which would place it in late 2011 or early 2011 and Death in the Family then has to take place the year late point in that. I think it is early 2011 since there are multiple dates of 2011 in Batman comics and come after Tec' 001 so you're looking at a squeezed timeline and then a jump for the fact to fit if it's late 2011. So any event that takes place within Batman's timeline must also be placed in 2011 until after Death in the Family

And again. I think you you understand this but i'll briefly repeat. Superboy and the Teen Titans fight each other on New Years Eve/Day of 2012.

Supergirl arrives shortly before or after this event (within days) as she meets Kon-El fairly quickly. She does reference "a few days" "a few weeks" but I haven't gone back and checked them.

Supergirl must arrive during or before the events of the Superman arch.

This means that the Superman Arch has to be within days of Kon-El being freed and thus 2012 new years... thus the Superman Arch also has to happen during a time span of shortly before new years to shortly after or simply shortly after.

It's all a matter of relative time and little hints that are given...

btw... GL 0 also confirms that it is 2011 in the DCnU ^.^ (think that's the one. It's the one that introduces the new human GL)

Mission to Mars happens in 2008. This is stated in AC 015 where it is sad that it happens 2 years from now and if it is 2006 then that adventure must then be 2008

curious, are you going off general timeline or Superman's timeline..Superman's timeline goes backward and forward in linear time where as linear time is just straight but you have effects happening before causes.

Also are you going to try to layout the order of event where krypton is destroyed...because there are quite a few pieces of that story told throughout the books, but it is largely being told to someone in present making it present day, but really happening in the past.

Yes, but hasn't been shown when he realizes. If I'm remembering right it is between 2005's first appearance and 2006's joining the JL.

that's what I was going to say, but then I went and looked. Clearly he couldn't fly when he ran to and jumped to Brainiac's ship in Issue 7 of Action Comics, but at the end of Issue 8 he seems to do a much more controlled crouch and take off which appears to be him flying... And then there is a jump forward where JL 1-6 takes place and then Action 10 takes place (Action 9 can't be placed). So the end of Action Comics 8 appears to be his first "flight" after having realized he can fly during the jump to Brainiac's ship or the Jump down.

Im trying to get the timeline correct, so you read them in chronological order. I havnt read the early supergirl comics which i presume detial about the destruction of krypton but when i do ill post them on the timeline.

The comics do say when the story is placed. IE AC annual says it takes place after AC 8. The current AC is abit of a mish mash of younger supes like when he was at the prom. when i get the chance ill properly sort that out. Might do that today as im off sick today. :(

I just bought superman 1-6 (new 52) and want to read it soon, looks like ill be reading at about the 50% mark form your timeline. Man i never knew the comic world would be so confusing with crossovers and characters from one series coming out in other series, superman in swamp thing? Thats news to me.

You dont have to read them in the order ive suggested. Its all relative and subject to change. Just because your reading superman doesnt mean you have to read the jl series for example. Ive put this together because I find it interesting and thought others might too.

Dont get downhearted, I dont read all these comics, Swamp thing for example, there are a few of us who read these comics and tell me what comics superman is in.
