In different ways. It really shouldn't count as a kill in Superman 2 because he just threw him at the wall and Zod fell down an abyss.

I hate that so much. It's the main reason I don't buy Blu ray, out of spite. I know they are pushing Blu rays to replace DVDS so they put all the special features on them. Heck, I'm surprised Man of Steel even HAS a two disc DVD, the last movie I bought that had one was Incredible Hulk.

Lol, I laughed so hard at this. But it's true, at least Man of Steel Superman showed some kind of remorse. Reeve just threw him down a hole and skipped off with Lois merrily.

He also technically killed doomsday to save metropolis. Kind of the same scenario in man of steel when he killed Zod. So everyone stop complaining the movie was really good.

@theacidskull: The movie executed it terribly......Although I still love the movie. that was the only part of the movie that I disliked not the fact that he killed but the way the scene was done was terrible......After killing millions in their fight Superman decides to save 4 random people and even then instead of keeping a choke hold on Zod he could have tossed Zod out of the building flown with him into space and on the moon or pound him into the ground instead of getting him into a choke hold in the first place OR cover Zod's eyes with his hand while the Heat Vision burns his hand giving the family time to escape and then continuing his battle with Zod which would then lead to Superman emerging the victor..............Enough of my rant I still loved the movie.....

The World Engine is what killed nearly four hundred thousand people.

The fight between Clark and Zod possibly may not have actually killed anyone because by that point everyone at ground zero was either dead or evacuated.

Although it's likely that a few may have perished.

Also Zod would have never stopped as long as he lived. And there's no kryptonite or red sun or magic to make him stop here.

There are no prisons that can contain him, there are no guards who can even slow him down. Killing him was the only option, because just beating him unconscious would let him wake up and try all over again until one of them dies.

And here's the thing, Zod *wanted* to die fighting. Whether by killing the entire human race or by fighting their champion.

    1. The World Engine did 99% of the damage to Metropolis, not Superman and Zod

    2. Even still, millions is a GROSS over estimate. By the time Superman even got there, most of the people had evacuated the buildings.

    3. How do we know he even killed anyone at all? I haven't seen the movie since it came out, but if I remember correctly, he didn't actually knock any buildings down, he just flew through them, and I don't remember him hitting any pedestrians as he did so.

No it didn't. It was only damaging the centre of Metropolis. Superman and Zod were trashing the entire city.

Okay maybe not million but people were killed.

They knocked 2 or 3 buildings down. not everyone evacuated the city people were still in the streets and in buildings when they fighting they had caused immense collateral damage killing people in the process.

You misinterpreted the fight completely differently friend.

Superman Didn't want to hurt anyone, most of the Building were evacuated. this was his first real fight, Asking Zod to go somewhere else would have defeated the idea of him going on a rampage. he WANTED TO hurt people, and superman can't help if he gets thrown into 3 buildings Add the fact that Zod was obviously More powerful than Superman considering that he was giving Clark a decent fight despite the fact that he couldn't yet fly. He was right when he said that he was bred to be a Warrior, Superman was just a farm boy with a Kind heart and a desire to help, there was no real solution to the whole thing. There was no Kryptonyte, there was NO Red Sun light, what was supes going to do?

Also the choke hold, have you ever stopped to think that Zod wanted to die and he was giving clark a choice? I mean, clark could have held Zods head but he could have easily moved his eye to fry the family, i mean superman can't keep his eyes in plays can he? Zod had nothing to live for, so he created a scenario in which he gave clark a choice, kill me or this is what will happen. And cover Up his eyes? and then what? Zod would get out of the hold eventually and kill more people, with his bare hands, with a truck, etc.

Superman, realizing all of this Put A stop to it, had he any other choice, he wouldn't have killed him. He does the same In the comics whether people like it or not. it was VERY WELL executed :)

I never said Superman was intentionally trying to hurt people but he wasn't helping doing more damage while fighting Zod. Superman was more powerful but was not trained and hadn't honed his abilities which is why Zod was able to battle him which is correct but again I never said he shouldn't kill him Superman could've easily tackled Zod into space and snapped his neck and I would've been fine with it because it makes sense to save the humans he sacrifices one of his own.

I meant suplex him or something just standing there while his heat vision is getting closer to the family was stupid. and if he would've covered his eyes and saved those people Zod wouldn't have killed more because after that Superman would've ended it their. as soon as the family got out realizing Zod won't stop.

He rarely kills in comics the only time it was done well was when he killed Doomsday.

@guardian_of_gravity: I never said he shouldn't kill him.

Never cared for the movie, whether he had to kill Zod or not. The writers made it into a way that he had to kill Zod and it was obvious when Zod said early on "You'll have to kill me" (that and the writers admitted they struggled over the decision about whether to kill Zod or not and how to write it in). It was cheap writing, giving an easy out to getting rid of a villain. I also didn't see much of the connections between characters, especially Pa Kent, who I just didn't care for (can't care for him when he told a young Clark that he should have let kid's on a bus die to protect his identity).

@theincrediblesuperhulk8642: avengers had alot of damage also, alot of people died also, they just add gloss over the actual damage instead of showing how it would really look like if it were to happen. Man of steel showed us that without trying to cover up the damage.

Already spent around 30 $ for 3 visits in cinema, and there goes another 36 $ + delivery price. This film deserves that (one of the greatest superhero/sci-fi films for me). Can’t wait!
