@deaditegonzo: I don't have a scan where it's stated (it was in a tales to astonish comic) and that was for Marvel but it's been stated many times in the DCU that it goes Speed of Sound, Speed of Light then Speed of thought then you go through time which only Barry Allen the Flash has been able to do I think on pure speed alone.

Those are actual feats of Superman moving faster than the speed of thought but they are both non canon Superman has the potential to reach it but it's also based on will power. Superman either has more will or his brute strength and speed is to much for them to fight against which is why he would punk them. But Superman never has done it enough to say he is faster than thought.

@theincrediblesuperhulk8642: He's moved before people could form a thought several times in canon too I believe, but ill try and find actual evidence.

#153 Posted by Quocalimar (15 posts) - - Show Bio

@deaditegonzo:

When dealing with fans I never take anything to heart, so for taunting the hero or calling out any faults I could find I expected some retaliation.

I wish they would have him do more stuff like that in the movies, and videos.

@deaditegonzo: He's moved faster than people making a fully formed thought or someone reacting but he hasn't moved before someone just thinking a simple thought.

Reading Superman: Braniac by Geoff Johns. Probably one of the best ones I've read besides Last Son.

Man, people seem to be stupid and obtuse...Seriously...Did any of you guys actually thought MOS was dark? And that Superman acteed like Batman?

#160 Posted by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

@lieutenant_awkward: @deaditegonzo: I still need to read that. Birthright damn near made me cry though. One thing I'll say is that Leinul francis yu's art was incredible hen he was drawing Clark but when he drew superman it was......very underwhelming. And lieutenant for tomorrow is incredible but it takes at least two reads for you to really appreciate the story. The first time you read it you'll likely be like "wha?" at the end. But the second time you'll enjoy the story immensely if you're anything like me. And I think it's Jim lee's best work. I haven't read hush yet but for tomorrow is THE best art I've ever seen in a comic

#161 Edited by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

@sandman_: MOS wasn't dark at all. It just took a more serious tone rather than the light and playful marvel films. I'm not saying one way is right or wrong but I am saying that the onus is on the audience to be aware of what theyre observing. If you go into MOS excpecting the "Avengers" tone then it's gonna be a bad experience for you. MOS was a superman movie. I loved Clark I love Ma Kent I loved Zod I loved Jor-el. The acting was great the direction was pretty good and most importantly (IMO) you could tell they cared about creating a great experience. I get tired of people saying it was dark. The blade trilogy was dark. The Nolan batmans were dark. "girl with the dragon tattoo" was dark. MOS was a superhero movie that, while it was flawed, decided not to be cute and light and cartoonish but rather to deliver a serious story where you could feel the tension of the plot. Now:

1. there should have been more Lois and Clark

2. I'm ok with him doing what he did to you know who but if you know who was about to kill his mother I think it would have been more acceptable.

3. I'm not ok with all the people that must have died in metropolis. Superman should have moved the fight or at least tried to save the people

4. I feel as though pa Kent should have just had a heart attack rather than the very cheesy tornado scene.

5. The costume is awful there is no getting around that

6. I liked Amy Adams but I would rather have had Olivia Wilde

7. Superman should have had to use his brain my his braun to beat Zod. Sid is a

Dude that is just as strong as superman is only Zod has military training.

8. there should have been more Clark Kent in this movie.

9. There should have been more acts of heroism in this film.

But other than that stuff it was a great movie I would give it a 6.8/10

So...When is Maxima coming back?

I really want her too! if it happens anytime soon, she and Wonder woman can duke it out over Superman.

I noticed in the trailer for Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Superman has his regular suit, but in the comic he has a different suit. Can somebody explain?

#164 Posted by SandMan_ (4528 posts) - - Show Bio

@sog7dc: There are flaws with the movie. And Superman himself has flaws... That was the point I believe.

@sog7dc: She looks like Jean Grey...Well she basically is Super Jean Grey. She pretty much just wanted to mate with Superman.

#171 Posted by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

@sandman_: Oh well I'd like to see her appear in supes/WW

#172 Posted by SandMan_ (4528 posts) - - Show Bio

@sog7dc: That's up to DC, she's been gone for more than a decade...

well she is like a female Superman I guess. She has Super Strength, Speed and endurance, invulnerability, Telekinesis and telepathy, Flight, Optical beams, and forcefields. She probably has more powers that I'm forgetting. At one point she wanted to mate with Superman for breeding purposes.

@sog7dc:

I love Jim Lee's art, his art in the new Unchained title is just great and his work in 'For Tomorrow' was as well, he would probably be my second choice, I also like Shane Davis a lot as well.

I LOVE SUPERMAN..too many characters in the universe to make him relevant to the point he needs to be

either the world needs more problems that Superman and Superman like people need to deal with(which means regular people are dying by the boatloads) or less of them preferably

#184 Edited by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

@theamazingimmortalman:

Yeah Shane davis is awesome. You ever seen Brett Booths superman? His is incredible as well.

Majestic is what superman SHOULD be....

So today I read the first 9 issues of "Majestic" (the 2005 ongoing for mr majestic) and it occurred to me what superman SHOULD be IMO. You see majestic is the windstorm universes Superman but it's a totally different method. Rather than spending most of his time

In one city the entire earth is his to protect. For example the first two story arcs are one where he rescues the people and animal life of countless "trillions" of worlds from a world collector machine and the next issue he basically fights woldstorms braniac.and all of his fights are on a global scale. He uses his intellect beautifully. Majestic is like what would happen if superman batman and Wonderwoman somehow had a baby. Now granted I wouldn't do the EXACT same thing for superman (Clark has to be in metropolis he has to have Lois Jimmy perry in his life. Etc) but superman Gould be saving the planet just like majestic. He should be fighting someone who challenges his intelligence and his decision making. Furthermore I would love to see Superman take pride in his kryptonian heritage. Id like to see him assert that he's the last son of krypton. But I'm rambling now. What do you guys think?

I'm loving unchained and batman/Superman. People complain that there aren't any good superman titles, but I prefer the current new 52 version and the current stories to some of those from the 90s where Superman appeared fairly de-powered. Love the art, love the current costume, love the fact that he has lost some of that Boy scout-ness without losing his basic integrity and "hero-ness"

@sog7dc: DC has a status quote they must follow.

Why the Animated Series did not win me over.

As a kid I grew up sort of poor, I didnt know what comics were till I was 16. The only thing I knew about Superman was his cartoon, and when I moved to Mexico they would replay the show. The only episodes that every caught my eye were the Lobo and Mr Mxy episodes and that was mostly for comedic value. But the show was boring and the fights were lame (especially if we compare them to comics and MoS). I liked the Justice League more (that was until I started reading comics and then it sort of bugged me). I watched Smallville when I was in America but when I moved to Mexico I couldnt keep up so I stopped, this was the first sign I had of liking Superman.

God Bless the new 52.

I started to read comics around the age of 18 but very sporadically, and anything I could get at the library. The only monthly series I picked up was Kick Ass 2 cus of the movie. I saw adds for the New 52 online, not fully understanding what it was. The day it came out I asked the comic store lady what it was and knew it was a great/expensive way to start. Oddly enough I never picked up any Batman titles cus the art never peaked my interest but I might have had a sub conscious hate for the character. I picked up Action Comics and Superman and about 6 other DC titles (which quickly grew to about 20 titles over the last 2 years). I liked this new tougher Superman and enjoyed the more powerful one in SUperman. Over time I went from 2 Supe's titles too 6 (if you count the Batman and Wonder Woman co-books as Superman title).

Why I hate the Animated Series Superman and Batman.

Animated Series- To put it frank, it was boring. It nerfed the character to the point where he had trouble with stuff that not even Golden Age Superman would have trouble with. The villains and plot where boring and it seems that they didnt give the same amount of care and love that they did with Batman, which is quite obvious when you see them meet in Worlds Finest and the Justice League. I wish that they would make an other Cartoon more based on the new 52 pants and jeans version and have a little bit of Smallville type story, where he slowly builds up power and gains his real super suit.

BATMAN!!!!!- I think back and I much like Superman, only liked the funny episodes, Joker. And then Worlds Finest came along and shit on Superman. In comics Batman is cautious and acknowledged that Superman can win, not in the animated series, apparently the writers were so urgent in giving Batman kryptonite that they sacrifice canon and story to give it to him. In this cartoon Batman is never cautious or scared of Superman, or any of the Justice League. He acts as if its normal. And the worse part was that damn flip, even if Superman lowers his speed to the speed of bullets that throw would never catch him off guard and even if he could flip him why would he land. Bruce Timm just wanted to make batman a bad ass. It makes Batman into an around the clock badass and sacrifices moments like in the comics. Heck they changed the ending in Doom, where instead of making Batman out to be a douche like he is in Tower of Babel they make him see in the right. But about those key moments, one that comes to mind is the one in Injustice, where Superman is telling Bruce to be the god father, right away it seems like that he know when Bruce is shocked even with his straight face, and when Superman tells him about his babies heart beat and bruce smiles it made me want to tear up knowing what happend to the baby and this showing of true friendship.

But whatever this has become and anti Batman post, the point is I like most versions of good Superman, and since New 52 Superman made me love the character I find it annoying when on the newsarama Facebook page and all I see is bitching about how they dont like him, call it Nu52 or just want the old universe back. So yeah , SUPERMAN WOOO!!!

@hero92: Timm loves Batman way to much.
