LEGO Super Heroes - "Metropolis Showdown" Set Revealed

In case you weren't aware, Toy Fair is coming to New York City the second week of February. I will be there getting the latest in the newest toys. While the toy companies are keeping their new releases under wraps for now, that didn't stop LEGO from sending us an early look at an upcoming Super Heroes set.

As part of the Superman - Man of Steel line, there will be a "Metropolis Showdown" set featuring Superman and Zod.

You can see this is an early look. The number of pieces isn't even listed. It's possible there could still be some minor changes made, but this is likely what we can expect.

Along with an image of the packaging, LEGO also sent a picture of the complete set.

There will definitely be more Superman sets from Man of Steel. We'll have to wait until Toy Fair to see more.

haha cute! Seems a little too minimal though, even for a mini set. Like the Batman vs Catwoman City-chase mini; I reckon they'll change it by throwing in a pile of boxes/trashcans/Daily Planet's to give them more stuff to throw at each other :p

I like how Zod's costume to Superman's is like Black Adam costume compared to Shazam .

That seriously can't be all you get in the set, right?

It is a mini-set. It'll probably be something that costs $15 or so. Par for the course when it comes to LEGO products, really.

I don't get why Zod has basicly an omega symbol as his crest. Is DC possibly going to link him to Darkseid? If so, why? If not, then why undermine Darkseid's (given the talk about him in a possible JL movie) visual look and something that's visually so essential to his character?

SWEET!

Okay, judging by the Zod figure, I think we can guess the origin of Superman's costume: traditional Kryptonian wear from Jor-El

As a Lego enthusiast I am excited to see more Superhero sets being released. Based on the size of the set and my previous experience buying licensed Lego kits I would estimate this set as selling for about 12.99. According to Lego fan sites there are at least two other sets that have already been announced "Battle of Smallville" and "Metropolis Showdown". Traditionally the first wave of sets based around a movie license usually has around 5 different sets plus random little poly-bags that are only available from certain retailers. We should expect something similar for Iron Man 3. If you want a more "traditional" Superman mini figure I highly recommend the set Superman Vs. Power Armor Lex.
