Superman stories from the late 80's and early 90's had a distinct feel to them. Both in the storytelling and the level of power displayed.

By the time Our Worlds at War came out things seemed very different.

I haven't read a lot of DC (or Marvel for that matter) from the mid 90's. When did things start to change?

    Byrne's Superman *vomits*.

Through various reboots Superman changed since Byrne. Even the Jurgen era had a different feel.

When year 2000 came DC soft-rebooted Superman. Even changing Byrne's origin for Superman (Thank god), It made Superman more powerful and changed focus from silly work drama to bombastic adventures and crossovers.

Byrne's Superman was awesome IMO. Everything from his origin to the explanation of his powers was done well, it just wasn't over the top enough for some Supes fans.

@squalleon: Yeah, not a fan. Seems out of place.

Dated concepts and dialogue, unmemorable stories (Except one or two, how many do you remember in his 50+ issue run?), wrong approach that gave birth to the problems of 90s Superman. Heavily hit and miss.

Byrne created something that was quickly forgotten. Except vol.1 no one cares really cares for anything else of his run. Personally I don't care about that either.
