    Overall, yes. But in modern times, say from the last 5 to 10 years I'd put Batman up as a very good contender for the title of "most iconic DC character", but that's just me.

    EDIT: - along with Superman obviously.

    @enigmalantern: Confusing iconic with popular.

    Superman was the first superhero to grace every form of media created by man. Comics, newspapers, radio, television, movies, video games...

    He'll forever be the most iconic, but popularity will fluctuate.

    While many characters are currently more popular than him. Superman is still the figure known through out the world.

    Yes he is, but Batman is more popular just now...quite a bit more actually.

    That S Badge is up there with coca cola as one of the cultural emblems of modern times.

    I'd wager Cap is pretty up there too, not the most iconic, but up there.

    Yes, he is the quintessential superhero. Whenever someone hears the word 'superhero' they most likely think of something like Superman: big muscular guy, super powers, big smile, cape, and colourful costume. Yeah, that does describe a bunch of characters, but Superman did it first and those other guys were following the pattern set by Superman.

    Yes but batman is more popular. He is the most iconic because he is the oldest, one of the most powerful, and stands for hope. That s on his chest is an icon.

    As stated in the Dear Hollywood video, the top 3 are Supes, Bats and Spidey. Those are the 3 most iconic heroes.

    As far as I am concerned, Superman and Batman are just sides of a coin in terms of iconic reverence, they both are this worlds most famous fictional figures since Santa Claus, Superman shares his timelessness with Batman that will remain famous after we are all old and gone.

    Yep, they have been for years now and probably always will be, although Sony seem to be doing their best to get people naffed off with Spiderman!

    He is probably the most iconic superhero at this point, why else would there are so many expies of him. Even writers like Garth Ennis respect the character and its meaning. Batman's more popular though obviously.
