Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18942 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
Is it ironic that...
Yeah Morrison probably did it on purpose but Superman is in his early years so his powers haven't developed fully yet.
well he's not supposed to be at the height of his powers yet and he's closer to the more extremely tough that he was in 1938 rather than the nigh invulnerable he's become. That's why Morrison cleverly put in Lex talking about hitting him with mortal shells but it not doing anything.
it's an interesting take. It feels like what Bryne did in 1986 by de-powering him but at the same time you realize he's going to keep getting stronger and stronger till he gets back to his more recognizable levels so it will be interesting to watch that progression in Action Comics.
here are some examples of irony to help people define it
1. anti-smoking campaigns sponsored by tobacco companies
2. that disclaimer at the end of tequila commercials that asks people to drink responsibly
3. an arachnophobic who falls to his death trying to get away from a non lethal spider
4. a guy who drives across country because he's afraid of flying dying in a car accident
irony is when it rains on your wedding day
it rained on my wedding day lol

@The Stegman: I just thought she didn't understand the definition of irony though actually it is in fact very ironic that a song about irony has nothing ironic mentioned in it
While i agree that not every line in the song is ironic i do find some of them ironic
