after getting to know the story for this upcoming video game through readingg the comics and watching the trailers i just have to ask does it seem to you that the game is dc's version of the civil war that took place in the marvel universe? im asking because the story for the game seems to fit perfectly with the marvel event. there are several points of evidence that i want to present to prove my case:

    1) the beginning of the stories are very similar. in marvel events start rolling because the villain nitro destroys a school in stamford. injustice begins in a similar way only on a bigger scale with the joker destroying metropolis with a nuke.

    2) this leads to the events which splits the hero community which in marvel's case was the passing of the superhuman registration act. from the trailers and comics it seems that superman starting his dictatorship will do the same thing.

    3) of course this leads to my conclusion that the superhero community being split down the middle with heroes rallying between two leading heroes. in the game's case this seems to be batman and superman as indicated by the cover art for the game.

    what do you all think?

Its very similar though there's nothing wrong with it. Also, much like Civil War, super villains are getting involved and fighting alongside heroes.

it is pretty similar but i dont like the basis for the story. I mean cmon Superman becoming a dictator, I will never accept that. Even if Clark lost lois and all of Metroplois I still find it very unbelievable how it would cause him to want to take over the planet. Also, how the hell would he be able to convince Wonder Woman and some other Justice Leaguers to join him it doe. It just seems like the Game Designers just read some of Frank Millers work and decided to take it to the extreme.

i dont think his intention was to take over the world as dictator. it was just a means to an end which is to erase violence and war which is a very superman type goal

Which begs the question why is it always superman turning evil? Why not Batman or Wonder Woman and Superman stopping one of them?

I believe it is because of the influence of Frank Miller's TDKR.

Which shows Superman as a pawn of the goverment and Batman as a rebel.

No, not really. In kingdom come superheroes killing and overthrowing the law resulted in chaos, in injustice superman tries to bring about peace and order

@vandinejd_1991: Actually, in the comic it's shown that Wonder Woman is a political force to be reckoned with. She's quite the enabler because she's pretty much spoon feeding Superman what to do and say. Superman giving out to the UN and most of what follows is her idea. I'm reminded of Lady Macbeth in this instance. There's a lot of speculation that she is in fact the "Big Bad" of the game or at least one of them. I like this interpretation though we don't really see any solid motivations for her doing so. But I agree, SM going bad is a tired plot line. Now if this version of WW and/or Batgod Batman decided to take over the world... hmm. Handled well, I see Eisners in that; it's about bloody time Batman put the Joker down, mainstream or not.

I hope that the last battle is Superman vs the big mastermind behind all of this.

@sandman_: that's kinda my thought, because like MK9 and MKvsDC it goes in chapters with one character per chapter, and it looks like Batman is first. Wouldn't Batman be the one who fights Superman at the end? but he's first... is Superman going to have a chapter? I can only speculate.

@laserlambert: It is most likely Superman, to give him some redemption and too see that he is still good. I hope anyway.

@eternal19: Its an Elseworld, anything could happen. The only thing that pisses me off is that they are making Batman look cool and awesome in Superman's expense. Haven't we already been through that? Hopefully it isn't.
