They're all pretty powerful. Martian Manhunter, for instance was deliberately made more powerful than Superman, which is why they gave him a more common weakness.

That's just it; he combines more abilities and at a greater level than any of the others. He's the biggest of the big guns. He's the most powerful superhero going. That's something to offer.
hes in the league because hes one of the most powerful beings on the planet and the most iconic hero in DC and the justice league of america is one of the most iconic teams in DC- than theres the fact hes the overall big gun of the team
Most of them are very powerful on their own. But still there are some threats that require more than one to be defeated. Plus as others said he is iconic, very popular to people of the DC universe and can inspire others,

But to answer it...None of the other Justice League have the quality of leadership that superman has, none of them can inspire hope like superman does, hardly any of them are as incorruptible as superman, and hardly any of them has the will that he does (not including green lanterns). Superman is pretty much most of the justice league on one package. Your right he doesnt have telepathy, he doesnt use magic, and he doesnt speed steal. So according to that the justice league only needs 4 members- Superman, a telepath, a magic user, and a speed stealer.........yeah.........

Hope/leadership are all gimmicks. they can be characteristics of anyone. batman proved himself to be more incorruptible than supes,and i'm pretty sure that the same can be said for martain. and again everyone has his powerset on a slightly lesser level but make up for it by having some different powers.

phasing, telepathy, gadgets, speed force are all gimmicks they can be the powers of anyone Batmans Intimidation, Green Lanterns will etc. are all gimmicks they can be the characteristics of anyone
Dont knock Superman because he has qualities others do not. His 'gimmicks' can be the characteristics of anyone just as much as any other average guy on the street can access the speed force. Sure some of them do have his powerset but its not a slightly lesser levels. Superman has proved himself time and time again to be on another level than most of the justice league when they dont use their other powers, save for Wally and Barry.
Also it has been said that Superman, along with Batman, are the two most important people in the Universe. In every reality a form of them exist in someway, somehow and without them there would be chaos.

Martian Manhunter - Has more abilities than Superman but the powers he has similar to Superman's are not equal to Supermans
Flash - The fastest man alive. Only thing he has going for him, other than that he has nothing and Superman isnt that much slower than him.
Wonder Woman - Strength and Speed, neither equal to that of Supermans abilities
GL - Strength, speed, the ability to create anything with his mind. Great substitute for Superman. they have all been shown to be inadequete when it comes to matching them up against Superman (IMO is B.S. and I love Superman)
Captain Marvel - The closest thing you can get to Superman. All of his powers, none of his weaknesses, plus the ability of magic. The only thing he needs is experience and that comes with time. Plus he isnt slowly getting strong from Energy absorbtion
So there are others out there that could take his place but all of them seem to come up short in the over all test
