I've been thinking about this line a lot. I know it's from the comics and all, but what if it's also a clever way to foreshadow the DCU?

Imagine at the ending Clark reading his article about Superman having that line in it and while he is reading/narrating it, there will be scenes of Barry Allen, Arthur Curry etc. reading it. Superman could give other heroes in the universe hope to come out and actually protect the world eventually leading to Justice League.

We then see Amanda Waller (the same one from the first Green Lantern film) observing Superman as he is interviewed by Lois.

At the Daily Planet, there can be a newspaper headline that reads "Masked Mystery man terrorizes Gotham City"

This is just one idea of how to make it known that these characters exist in the same universe without making it seem forced.

Superman had no access to radio while Gotham was under siege .... The rest had no powers at the time ... Or didn't care ...

I think it's pretty much established that Snyderverse is different from Nolanverse.
