Yep, you read it right, the original Superman didn't mind killing or threat a criminal with death.  He was a very cold psychopath, as well as Batman he didn't mind killing either.
As you can see from the scans below didn't even mind letting the bad guy die sometimes.

Yeah, I have heard about this. They changed his personality later into the Superman we know now.

The CCA pretty much forced them to make him a boy scout

One thing I know for sure unlike modern Supes the first time Batman talked down to him would've been the last

#9 Posted by turoksonofstone (13199 posts) - - Show Bio
@joshmightbe
It was before that, an editorial edict was passed for Superman to make an oath to no longer kill(which he did on panel) and that was that it was before the CCA existed.

GA Superman was the man for the people. Up until the 1950's where he started to become the "boy scout" lawful authority and using Standing for truth, justice, and the "American" way for propaganda purposes during the cold war.

Batman killed in the Pre-robin issues too, I always thought the Original versions of both were the best ones.

#15 Posted by Primmaster64 (21138 posts) - - Show Bio
@joshmightbe: GA Superman? Most definitely.
#16 Posted by VanTesla (518 posts) - - Show Bio

He was a douche.
#17 Posted by turoksonofstone (13199 posts) - - Show Bio
@VanTesla:
If he comes back....he WILL outsell the DC version.
#18 Posted by Primmaster64 (21138 posts) - - Show Bio
@turoksonofstone: what makes you think that?
#19 Posted by turoksonofstone (13199 posts) - - Show Bio
 @Primmaster64
GA Superman is Lawsuit Superman ,
When/IF they "take" him it's this version they won back not the one "We Know"
Feel Me?

@turoksonofstone
I may read a Superman that has a F U personality and does not care to get his hands dirty.
#21 Posted by Primmaster64 (21138 posts) - - Show Bio
@turoksonofstone: I see...but won't Grant Morrison's version of Supes bee closer to this one?
#22 Posted by turoksonofstone (13199 posts) - - Show Bio
@VanTesla:
There are other readers you may not need to.
#23 Posted by turoksonofstone (13199 posts) - - Show Bio
@Primmaster64
Possibly, only DC knows that.
#24 Posted by Primmaster64 (21138 posts) - - Show Bio
@turoksonofstone: that's what i mean...if they are going to lose this Superman...how can they use him?
#25 Posted by turoksonofstone (13199 posts) - - Show Bio
@Primmaster64:
They MAY lose everything relating to the Origins of the Clark Kent we know effective 2013, so they are testing the waters at DC to deal with this in story, If a miracle occurs I would expect to see "classic" Superman return at DC, If not...
DC will just create a new "Version", and the version they Lost to the heirs may show up elsewhere.

  Wow.  You seriously own that?  You sir, are purely awesome.

@Amegashita: How do you feel about this Superman?
#39 Posted by Amegashita (3601 posts) - - Show Bio
@Primmaster64:  He's okay, he's no Captain Marvel though.  Seriously speaking, it seems it's easier to write stories with a Superman like this without it coming off short.
#40 Posted by Primmaster64 (21138 posts) - - Show Bio
@Amegashita: What do you mean....Captain Marvel?
#41 Posted by Amegashita (3601 posts) - - Show Bio
@Primmaster64:  I mean nothing he does would make him as awesome as Captain Marvel.  Though, I get this kind of feel from this Superman.
#42 Posted by Primmaster64 (21138 posts) - - Show Bio
@Amegashita: Was CM also violent?
#43 Posted by AssertingValor (5396 posts) - - Show Bio

Why did they have to change him........................
#44 Posted by Primmaster64 (21138 posts) - - Show Bio

lol

#45 Posted by Amegashita (3601 posts) - - Show Bio
@Primmaster64:  No, he was never violent to the extent shown in golden age Superman.
#46 Posted by Primmaster64 (21138 posts) - - Show Bio
@Amegashita: He wasen't? Damn shame
#47 Posted by turoksonofstone (13199 posts) - - Show Bio
#48 Posted by Primmaster64 (21138 posts) - - Show Bio

damn

#49 Posted by Amegashita (3601 posts) - - Show Bio
@Primmaster64:  Not really.  The thing is, Billy and his family weren't violent like Golden Age Superman or Golden Age Batman, and you know what?  He out sold them beyond belief.  In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Billy and his families' success is the sole reason the Silver Age came about.   Ye, it's a stretch, but I'm making that claim now.

@Amegashita: Blarhg SHAZAM
