Yeah Romita's art is a draw back but it's all speculation and rumors at this point.

@theacidskull: Doomsday is no better than a Parademon.

Doomsday is worse. Parademons are a combination of biology and tech to construct a faithfull uninteligent robot (not AI) to Darkseid. Doomsday is an unstoppable biological weapon made to destroy.

Not many can do a monthly without falling behind. I hope R.JR. bring his A-game IF he is the artist. Everything we have been discussing up to this point is rumors and speculations.

@theacidskull: You forget that he was already fighting a Parademon when Batman and Lantern got there? He knew he couldn't knock them out already.

@squalleon: True, but I'm saying that killing Doomsday is no better than killing a parademon. They're both mindless beasts.

I'm pretty torn on this news. On one hand, I absolutely loved Johns' Action run, it was easily one of my favorite eras of the character (especially with Busiek writing Superman). On the other hand, however, Johns' New 52 Superman is probably one of the worst versions of the character out there. Add to that the possibility of JRJR being the new artist and... yeah, doesn't sound as good as I wish it did.

Johns writes team books differently than solo books from what I've seen. He probably doesn't have Superman think often because in the team mechanic Batman and Cyborg are the smart guys, and he doesn't want to comparatively nerf them. I expect he'll write a decent Superman for a solo book.

Johns writes pretty great solo books so this is good news to me. Even though I hate Superman in Johns' Justice League series, I'm reasonably confident he'll handle him better when he's the only character to focus on.

I miss Johns on Aquaman already.

Considering that this is Bleeding Cool, I will take this news with grain of salt until official confirmation from Johns himself.

Even if this is true and Johns will replace Lobdell, that a mixed blessing. Johns >>>> Lobdell, that's much true, but Romita Jr…

I had to put up with Kuder’s art in AC, but now it will be Romita Jr instead of Rocafort?! God no…Well, at very least Lee still with UC, never mind the delays, and Tony Daniel with SM/WW.

I'm quite torn about this news. On the one hand, Geoff Johns has written some of the best Superman stories to date and he has a great understanding of Superman as a character and what he means to us all. But on the other hand, Johns has been responsible for some bad New 52 stories including the awful characterisation of Superman in Justice League. Gah it aggravates me thinking of how badly Superman was written there. Not to mention the additional rumour that John Romita Jr might be doing the art for the series. I really don't like his style and there aren't many series where it works apart from in JMS' Spider-Man run.

Oh and of course it is a rumour so the information has to be taken with a grain of salt, especially since it's come from Bleeding Cool.

@z3ro180: His style just doesn't go with Superman at all. In fact, it's not really that good in terms of artwork anymore IMO. I'd be bummed if he was the artist on this title. Ah well there's always Action Comics to fall back on.

I was speaking in more recent terms I suppose. World War Hulk, AvX, Captain America NOW! and more recent works of Romita Jr's haven't been a patch on what he has done so that's why his quality of art has gone down for me.

Psi War and this parasite arc hasn't been anything near special enough to write home about. I'm just hoping that John's doesn't bore me to tears like these past few issues have.

Johns' characterization and take on Superman so far in the New 52 has been pretty bad but it seems it was because Johns was writing just too many series at once and because he believed that with a new start of the DC Universe Superman should also be way different. There should always be some changes on a character's way of thinking and actions with changes of the universe around him and the plot of the story. He might do a better take on the character for the New 52 now in his main series if this rumor is true.

Johns on Superman will be pretty awesome. i thought his run on Action Comics was excellent.

As for Romita, I'm on the fence with what i think. I really enjoyed Rocafort's art so it will suck to see him go.
