Out of those options, The Man of Steel (but maybe that has more to do with my love of the movie). Other than that, Supes

I was thinking more in the line of nicknames that could be used as sub-titles like Superman: man of steel etc.

I may not be the most knowledgeable Superman fan, but I'll defend my title as the funniest. Even with cheesy jokes

Then yeah, Man of Steel for me. I like more and the other ones sound weird to me. Not bad, just weird.

Oh. I didn't know that, I knew only that Cap. Marvel was the "Big Red Cheese". Fitting.

Αgreed. Then again, if someone wants to dislike something, he/she would find any excuse he can use.

It is, I guess. I don't get it though. Is it an idiom?

Probably something from the 1930's-1940's. They called aliens that all the time on those Radio shows

Spot on. Although it has been used plenty of times in the modern times too. For example, it was like a tribute given as a name in another character called Strange Visitor (who wore the electric Superman suit if you remember) and used as an episode name in a number of series more recently I think Lois and Clark: The new Adventures of Superman.

I think you will have seen/read the line "Strange Visitor from another planet". Its up there with "This is a job for Superman" and "its a bird its a plane..."

    Ditto.

Also I feel like the man of tomorrow, summarizes Superman the best.

To me The Man of Tomorrow, fits the best.

Because in the end, that's what he is. He's the example of what humanity can aspire to become one day. Not only that, his main goal is to help the human race live to see them achieving their true potential.

Man of Steel seems so outdated, it would fit in the golden age, but ever since the silver age, he's anything but steel, he's adamantium :-)

The Last Son of Krypton would imply he's the only survivor of the planet Krypton, and since he's not, nickname makes no sense.

The Metropolis Marvel implies he only operates in Metropolis or that he somehow belongs to the city.

The strange visitor does make sense, but only in his early years when people still know very little about him, but has the years go by it loses all meaning.

My favorite would be Man of Tomorrow; with Man of Steel is close second (also I have this strange idea that Flash calls him Big Blue – in friendly, informal way).

Man of Tomorrow for me, it has a great sense of idealism, optimism and striving to be the best you can be, which is what Superman should be about.

The Man of Tomorrow, in spades.

The Last Son of Krypton is a faulty title.

The Man of Steel is iconic, but it's not as fitting as The Man of Tomorrow.

The strange visitor does make sense, but only in his early years when people still know very little about him, but has the years go by it loses all meaning.

Technically, he retains the "Last Son of Krypton" sensibly in a different way. If, for example, he's the last male which would be true even if Kara is around and I wouldn't call Krypto that. (Maybe he'd be the Last Dog of Krypton?) However, depending on what Krypton was like it may also make sense if he still retains values that Kryptonians generally held unlike say...Eradicator, Zod, or H'el, as he would embody what Krypton was/is.

Metropolis is essentially his hometown, so it makes sense. I mean, if you think about Superman, what city is he always linked with more often than not? Metropolis.

Anywho, I gotta go with Man of Tomorrow, but Metropolis Marvel is a good one too. I'd be down for another person from Metropolis taking that name down the line.
