And now? Something that may be inspired by the utter success of new television show Gotham in telling pre-Batman stories and getting an audience familiar with tales to come and teasing them on a weekly basis.
Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18940 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
David S. Goyer attached in a new DC TV Show named ''Krypton
It's a great idea. I can understand to a point the knee-jerk reaction of "meh, it's not Superman, so what's the point?", but it seems to overlook the fact that a well executed series on Krypton would only showcase the strength and depth of the Superman franchise. It's not like it hasn't happened before in the comics, with the Krypton backups, World of Krypton, Krypton Chronicles, etc.
Looking forward to hearing further developments. With a possible Supergirl and Krypton show on TV, and three movies with Superman in them in the next six years, I'm a happy camper.
Honestly, didn’t know that Gotham was such utter success.
So, Goyer, huh. I’m definitely interested in idea, but worried about execution. This show could turn out to be pretty – or really bad. Fingers crossed for first option.
Actually it would be an awesome idea. We never got to explore Krypton has a whole. It's past, it's history and most of all... What is it about that planet that has created one of the most powerful beings in the DC universe.
Although I think it could and should be done, I don't know to which point its financially feasible to do something like that.
It would require sets that actually gave us the feeling that we were looking at an alien planet and a total different civilization from our own. That would require awesome scenarious and a team of actors that could sell it to the viewers. And that's a lot of "if's" to make anyone at this point simply roll with a project of that magnitude.
Come, now. It's not like there haven't been dozens of successful and well made sci-fi shows on TV. It's certainly more feasible than a convincing show portraying a fully-powered Superman.
give smallville back to us
So you heard about the cancellation as well? Yeah, it effing sucks.
@transformers1024: Why not do both?
@transformers1024: Why do you say it's separate? For all we know, Jor-El might be a kid in that show, and Supergirl might know next to nothing about her homeworld. The two can easily coexist, as they operate in different times.
