    For example Superman arriving just after a bomb went off and some guy was too close and blown up.

    With only half of body left and a minute or 2 before death,if the guy was screaming at Superman to end his pain would he do it?

    Superman can't save him by flying or superspeed because his guts would spill out,ice breath cant save him either.

    So can he do it considering there is no chance for this guy,at least to end his agony.

    This is just an example there could be more under the same theme.

    Nope.

    A) The guy is dead and Superman is crying/moping over his body.

    or

    B) Superman insists that he can still save him, but (in your oh so hopeless scenario) the guy slowly fades away, leaving Superman depressed for not being able to save him.

    and B.2) The Joker drives off laughing out loud.

    @Edtion:

    I do not think it would be considered murder since he is dying anyway within a minute at least his last moments on earth shouldn't be in horror,grief and pain.

    I dont think in his condition is considered as murder case.

    @Crissdragon: Superman doesn't buy that "Im in pain, let me be put out of my misery" stuff. That'd be more reason for him not to want someone to die.

    Yes, but DC would never let it be written.

    And no for your examples.

    @Crissdragon: Superman once told a girl who was gonna commit suicide that someone he once knew was dying. She was in constant pain, and wasn't getting better soon. She wanted to be allowed to die, and she was. Superman said he respected her choice, but he didn't agree with it or think it was right.

    Superman doesn't put half dead people down. Not his game.

    If Superman can't save somebody, there's no need for Superman to hasten deaths and Superman can use his time better by doing something else like try and have more sex instead.

    @SUNMAN:

    That's because they're not vegetarian/vegans and view those creatures as animals/beasts/in-human-monsters/insects/etc, giving them the excuse to justify killing them, as they're not seen to actually be alive or something like that, you get what I'm saying.

    @Crissdragon:

    He can't because superheroes that vow to never kill and take it harsh when they fail to save someone, have this rule/code/motto that goes something like "I may not be able to save everyone, but I can at least try".

    in a hopeless situation like that......I think Superman would do it, because by killing that person he would be in a way, saving them. Bare in mind that this is a very rare situation that probably will never happen in the comics. But if it was, we'd probably see Superman thinking about it, then cut away to a later time where the person is dead and either way people would blame Superman and he'd be depressed over it.

    Its a no win situation :(

    @asIsuspected: the question posed was could Superman take someone's life. And all I said was he already has. If you want to debate al life not being equal or weight the value of different life forms that is another mater entirely.

    @Dernman: I remember that story and I hated it. That bit was so unessesary, they were exposed to gold kryptonite and he could have used the phantom zone instead.

    He'd still try to save him the old fanshioned way. To Superman, the "ends justify the means" doesn't apply. Superman's compassion for living things is his greatest strength. However, it's also his greatest weakness, and is often exploited by his enemies. A failed rescue attempt wounds The Man of Steel ten times more than Kryptonite or Magic ever could.

    Diana and Arthur have a better excuse to take lives when necessary, and sometimes Green Lanterns too.
