It would have little effect on him. Though it does emit some electromagnetic radiation, it mostly emits gamma radiation. Honestly, it would probably put more stress on him, which would probably depower him a little.
Yeah.....no unfortunately. The sun itself goes through different nuclear fusion reactions to 'burn.' The sun releases a huge amount of radiation from these reactions..... It's like asking, can a hydrogen bomb make plants grow? No....just no.

He was shown to draw of Geothermic Energy previously, and in Superman: The Dark Side, the Fire Pits were what kept him powered, albeit at a much lower level. Not to mention, in Ending Battle against Evil Star, he was being charged by Evil Stars energies, which were similar to Solar Radiation.
