Greg Pak is giving Superman a foe he's having a tough time understanding — a dark, disturbing villain he's calling "Superman's Joker" — while also bringing an element of mystery into Batman/Superman.

Kicking off this month with a purposely new-reader-friendly issue, the "Superman's Joker" story features a brand new artist for the comic — Ardian Syaf. With Batman/Superman #16, the creators gave readers the first few clues about the new villain as Supergirl and Steel were taken out, and Superman turned to Batman for help hunting down the threat.

I'm guessing this is DC's way of compensating for being unable to get the REAL Joker right

Actually its not one Joker but many jokers.

The things that been attacking Superman and is friends are nothing more than the Kandorians from the bottled city of Kandor, that somehow disappeared during the events of Doomed #2.

We had already seen that due to Brainiac invasion the kandorians somehow awoken from their micro-stasis. And they were aware of Superman although he wasn't aware of them.

But if someone realeased them and then convinced them that Superman never tried to free them, because he wanted to be the only superman on Earth, the kandorians would be very pissed off, and that brings us to the million dollar question. What's more dangerous than a pissed off powered up kryptonian? A whole city of micro size pissed off powered up kryptonians, seeking revenge.

If they were released by someone or they released themselves is anyone's guess.
