It may just be a promo image (all DC's Zero Monthimages are promos and not actual covers) and one of the covers of the new issue of Diamond's Previews, but it is the first image of Superman by upcoming newSuperman series artist Kenneth Rocafort.

OMG HOLY SHIZZNUTZ!

#7 Posted by sethysquare (3843 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm so happy right now I'm gonna play Starships on youtube to celebrate even though I usually hate that song.

#8 Posted by TDK_1997 (14685 posts) - - Show Bio

I usually don't like much Rocafort but this is cool.

#9 Posted by Kal'smahboi (3509 posts) - - Show Bio

Is it just me, or are they overdoing the red eyes thing? They used to save it for when he was really POed or supercharged with solar energy, but now it's on every promo image and cover.

#13 Posted by Suprman (442 posts) - - Show Bio

This is beyond Beautiful. It actually reminds me a lot of the Earth One design. Incredibly well done.

Now that you mentioned it, I do see the resemblance.

Marvel: We'll trade you Romita Jr and Deodato for Rocafort. Two for the price of one yeah?
D.C: F*ck off.

#18 Edited by sethysquare (3843 posts) - - Show Bio

@royale_with_cheese: John Romita Jr - Hell no.

Deodato - Maybe.

Give us Mark Silvestri and Leinil Francis Yu together, then we'll talk. LOL

#19 Edited by sethysquare (3843 posts) - - Show Bio

@royale_with_cheese: Actually no. Both Silvestri and Yu can't even keep a schedule and compared to the last drawing Leinil drew Superman....

Sure he improved since then but yeah, I rather keep Ken Rocafort. Rocafort managed to do 12 issues of Red Hood and the outlaws without even taking a break and even drew few pages in free comic book day.

I'll miss Rocafort in Red Hood but his superman art so far looks awesome

#23 Posted by Z3RO180 (6454 posts) - - Show Bio

(Sniff) This is awesome.

@Nighthunter: When did he leave?

#24 Posted by Nighthunter (28582 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm assuming that he'll start on september as I doubt that he can have two books at the same time

Almost done it now.

@Z3RO180: Yeah its confirmed that Ken Rocafort would leave red hoods after issue 12 and concentrate full time on Superman.

#29 Posted by Z3RO180 (6454 posts) - - Show Bio

@sethysquare:Dude i want to hug you cause you have just said possibly the best thing that can happen to the superman title not that its bad its ok so tis wil possilbly make it go from ok to awesome.

^5.

I am totally excited about this. When I saw how Superman looked under Rocafort's hands, I literally wanted to cry.

Brilliant art.

#32 Posted by Z3RO180 (6454 posts) - - Show Bio

@sethysquare:

Rocafortsare is great and with the lobdell wtiting issue 0 and maybe writing the title full time this would make supes an awesome book.

#33 Posted by Jake Fury (18389 posts) - - Show Bio

Supes may be interesting to me for the first time in years.

#34 Posted by sethysquare (3843 posts) - - Show Bio

@Z3RO180: Me too I'm totally optimistic and I agree with you, Superman is an OK book right now, but its not enough for me. I am positive this is going to be crazily awesome starting #0

Here's Rocafort's Jor-El cover:

Rocafort has worked on Superman before. Not sure why everyone's so impressed with something we already knew all of a sudden.

@Kal'smahboi: I think it may be used as a visual reminder that he is not Human, you know, while he may look like us, there are things that set him apart, like his heat vision.

Because everyone's trying to forget Reign of Doomsday :P

@Remi: LOL, sure, but the art was the least of that story's problems.

I know, but if they were gonna do that, I would prefer that it be consistent. Like it always showed in low light or when he was angry or something.

Wait, does this mean he's off Red Hood and the Outlaws?

I would say because when he was working on Superman he wasn't given such free reign on his art and perhaps it wasn't as phenomenal as his art on Red Hood and the outlaw.

But over the course of the year and his fantastic partnership with Scott Lobdell, I think he really shined and when he came back this time, it improved leaps and bounds.

Comparing that photo of Superman to what he did a year ago.

Action Comics #902

You can tell that he improved leaps and bounds. Perhaps at that time he wasn't the inker to his own work and he didn't worked with Blond the absolutely awesome colourist.

Now he is inking his own work and his partnership with Blond is matchmake in heaven.

But its funny how he can pencil and ink his own work yet managed to keep in schedule every single month.

Is this from Final Fantasy?

#46 Posted by Suprman (442 posts) - - Show Bio

Right now I'm just picking up Action Comics each month because Superman has been ok, Action has been Awesome, but I'm definitely getting this for the cover art cause it is awesome.

#47 Posted by Suprman (442 posts) - - Show Bio

@sethysquare: Well I see it a lot in the facial features and the red eyes, it's very similar to how Shane Davis draws Superman. Who's one of my favorite Superman artists.
