    A competent enough start 0

While many people called it “stupid” or even “offensive” DC Comics is fully behind the concept of Superman and Wonder Woman being an item, and gave written Charles Soule and artist Tony Daniel the mission of convincing the disgruntled readership that this is a good idea. Do they succeed? Well, not entirely I’d say, but their efforts are worth a look.WritingStructurally, it’s a classic “in medias res” type of issue, as we start with our two protagonists in the middle of a crisis on Norway, and th...

No Direction for the Future 12

There are those that think that the Superman and Wonder Woman romance is the best thing to happen to comics since ... (some other random thing which has happened to comics.) I tend to not fall into this category as I regard the combination of the two a bit more critically, both because of one half of the romance being my favourite character and partially because I tend to be more critical about some of the writing and with less suspension of disbelief. That having been said I thought I would ...

    Date Fight 2

This review was originally posted on my website Imagination Centre (here). This has been a series that I've been looking forward to for some time now, as with the great relationship that has started between these two characters it's nice to see a series that focuses on that. On top of that the creative team have really impressed me throughout their work, as although I've not read much bar Swamp Thing from Charles Soule, Tony Daniel is an artist that I've enjoyed for years now.PlotAs Superman and ...

Don't go to the North Atlantic, you'll find only Doom there. 0

This is a really good start to a series with a lot of promise and it avoids what I think would ruin the book slightly and instead gives you a big action book with a very deep character relationship. I really enjoyed the issue and was engaged from page 1, but at the end I was fully committed to what was going on here I mean who wouldn’t be with that ending. I think that this issue was quite slow on the build-up in scenes, but it was a difficult issue to do really well and building each individua...

    A 'Doomed' relationship? 0

The first issue in this series, is really what I expected when I first saw the full cover of the comic book, with all of the characters from Superman and Wonder Woman's current comic worlds, the culmination of the current worlds of Superman and Wonder Woman put together in a comic book. I think the parallel that I see mainly used in this book is the one of display of power, and conservation of power. Princess Dianna throughout the book tries to encourage Clark Kent or Kal-El to let go of his ch...

What do Superheroes do for dates? 0

I’m not a shipper but I do love a good ship. Yes, the pairing of Superman-Wonder Woman runs counter to the generally held meta cannon of Superman-Lois Lane and Wonder Woman-Steve Trevor, but this isn’t exactly a new pairing. It also doesn’t suddenly make those past meta relationships meaningless. From the angle Charles Soule is taking, Superman-Wonder Woman is actually a rather interesting pairing given their distance from humanity. This opens up for perhaps some interesting ru...
