The beginning of the end!
With Nukes launched all over the world and threatening to change life as we know it, it's up to Superman to save the world, but will it be with the aid of Wraith? Creative team writer Scott Snyder and artist Jim Lee are here to answer that question!
The Good
Things begin to slow down once Superman begins to save the world, but he does it in a cool fashion! Scott Snyder is really building on Superman and Wraith's differences, because seeing how they prioritize the nuclear threat is really great. Plus, the fight with Ascension and Superman was done really well. The artwork for that sequence was just so darn good, and the story moving behind it was equally good as well.
Secrets are teased, Batman vs. Wraith (WHAAAAAT?!), and Superman has made an enemy out of America! Scott Snyder is really going all out with this series and it's looking great so far.
Jim Lee's artwork was terrific! Why don't you know this by now? If you look at the picture I have of Superman crashing down and being awesome, you should know that it is done with the Jim Lee level of attention to detail! The guy could make any situation, character, or scene look more awesome with his signature art style on it. Getting tired of convincing you the obvious by now.
The Bad
I will say that this issue was great, but it felt more like a half completed conclusion. The story felt like it went bye too quickly and acted as a adequate ending, but also a beginning issue for the next portion of the story arc -- Superman vs. the U.S. Government! I'm intrigued to see what happens, but I would've also liked Scott Snyder to use the same level of care that he used last issue.
The Verdict
Things are heating up now! Will you be CHAINED OR UNCHAINED to this ongoing Superman story? 4 out of 5.
