super_man_23's Superman Unchained #4 - Bullets review

Superman is probably gonna die, Lois is in trouble, and Wraith wants an apprentice.

Lex Luthor says Superman is going to die sooner than we think, is that true? Only Scott Snyder and Jim Lee know! Join this Unchained creative team on another adventure with the Man of Steel!

    The Good

    Jim Lee art. YES.
    Jim Lee art. YES.

This was a good story! Superman is bleeding, Lois is in trouble, Jimmy is being held captive by Lex, and the usual super crazy destructive environment that Superman fights in! If you've missed out on prior issues, you'll like this one.

Writer Scott Snyder did a good job with this issue. The story moved forward and there was a bunch of action that showed off Wraith's prowess. Snyder is doing a really good job with Wraith's character as it's showing us that he knows the ins-and-outs of the sun better than Superman solely because of his experience. It's nice to see how his experience and being aligned to a government really contrasts to Superman. Plus, him wanting to teach Superman how to harness more abilities from the sun -- that always makes me excited to read that Superman's abilities can be pushed.

Lois and Lex's side of the story is slowly starting to connect to Superman's, but I'm excited to see how it will work out -- with Lois trying to get answers on the terrorist group and Lex talking about Superman's death; it's all connected somehow!

JIM LEE'S ARTWORK IS OUTSTANDING! YOU SHOULD ENJOY IT!!

    The Bad

Other than serving as a guilty pleasure book, you can't take this book seriously for anything else other than that. "Superman dying", yeah that's not gonna happen nor change New 52 Superman continuity in any way. Other than that, Snyder and Lee pull of yet another good issue.

    The Verdict

If you like Superman, you've come to the right place! If you like guilty pleasure books, you've found a FINE one in the New 52 DC Comic books. However, if you are looking for a serious and major Superman story arc continuity changes, you won't find it here. Unchained serves as a guilty pleasure book, nothing more, nothing less. Overall 3 out of 5.

Alright, I admit this is my first Superman: Unchained review, but I read the whole book since the first issue, so I'm aware of the story up until now. Scott Snyder and Jim Lee once again hit the nail with this issue. Their run in the Superman series is great. In this new chapter, Superman continues his uneasy team-up with Wraith, the alien supersoldier working for the U.S. Army, to defeat Ascension, a new terrorist group that has developed weapons that could even kill Superman. Meanwhile, Lex Lu...
