The Superman We've Been Waiting For 0

The GoodJim Lee's art is fantastic as always. The details he adds in every panel allows the reader to look at everything again. There is also a foldout page and the detail is astonishing. Lee also makes everything, even sitting in a chair, look absolutely epic and you'll never get bored looking at the pages. Dustin Nguyen adds his skills in the backup of this book and it contrasts Lee's epic scope. This isn't a bad thing. Instead, he uses shadows to create two pages of suspense. The art alone ma...

Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane? No.... It's Snyder and Lee 0

This has been a series that I've been looking forward to ever since it was announced. With Superman turning 75, DC has really pushed the boat out in celebrating, having two new series releases (this, and Batman/Superman), the Man of Steel film, and the Superman: Unbound Animated film. Besides Man of Steel this was however the one I was looking most forward to, as with my favourite artist, Jim Lee, and the brilliant writing ability of Scott Snyder, it's bound to be amazing.PlotWhen satellites sta...

We've had an Adventuring Superman, a Man of Steel Superman and a Superman. I guess we needed an Unchained Superman too. 0

Scott Snyder and Jim Lee team up to create a SUPERMAN comic book. Yeah, so that sounds cool. The GoodThe bomb that dropped on Nagasaki in WW2 was actually a person? One of the things I did enjoy about this first issue was the premise that Scott Snyder built. I will say that the beginning [taking place in the past] was confusing at first, however it all made sense in the end. Drawing to the conclusion that America has its own super weapon. That one thing was good enough for me to continue reading ...

Superman unchained: Snyder seemed to have left a few chains on 0

1. Cover art: 4.5/5I LOVE Jim Lee! He is the reason I fell back in love with comics. I LOVE Superman, especially when he is drawn by Jim Lee. This cover is definitely unique with that Jim Lee flair, but in a previous post, I stated I would never give a full 5/5 when I believe the artist, even as great as Jim Lee, phones it in with the feet! WHY DO THEY NEVER DRAW THE FEET! Please, draw a great cover and include the feet, stop masking it in rubble, or smoke, or water, or whatever, draw the feet, ...

At least one Snyder can get Superman right 0

With Andy Diggle having left Action Comics and Scott Lobdell on Superman, I’m not the most thrilled with Superman’s status in the New 52. Thankfully, superstar creative team Scott Snyder and Jim Lee seem to have answered my wish with Superman Unchained. Yes I know I’m late to the party reviewing this but my comics arrive a month later so this is the first chance I’ve had to read it. My thoughts on it are as follows. There will be SPOILERS by the wayIn the beginning, Snyder does set up a tantali...

Finally!!! 0

I've only glimpsed at the other ongoing Superman series, but from what I've seen, the reviews I've read and the choices that have been made as to character and story its been enough to put me off picking up a Supes series....which has been tough being he is my favorite character. That said, with the announcement of Synder and Lee teaming up for Unchained, I couldn't wait to pick this up. With the expectations I had for it there was a lot of room for disappointment. Thankfully this was not the ca...

Rather lackluster 0

This was originally posted on my review blog here.Set in the post Superman #13 era where Clark Kent has quit his job at the Daily Planet in a fit of anger at the unethical dictates of the paper’s current owner, Superman Unchained is a new series with Batman superstar Scott Snyder and DC’s premier artist and co-publisher Jim Lee at the helm as they seek to explore the Man of Steel’s ongoing story in the New 52 universe. There was a lot of buzz on this issue, owing in part to Scott’s current stat...
