Last Family Of Krypton #1: EL On Earth

Here is the belated review of Last Family Of Krypton issue 1, be sure to (recommend) this review and issue 2! Last Family Of Krypton Begins Now! You don't have to be reading any of the "current" Superman series to read this. All that you've 'got' to know is, Superman's history. Which shouldn't be hard, because everyone knows it already. In LFOK (Last Family Of Krypton), Jor-El and his wife Lara take their infant son, and travel in a ship to earth. This is an "Elseworld" story, so it just begins at Kal-El (or Clarks) beginning, however with a twist! When the family arrive on earth, they give humanity a look "to the future", with technology that is 1,000 years of ours. Written by Cary Bates and drawn by Renato Arlem.

    The Good

This story was well thought up, or created in away that incorporated a lot of "elements", that I thought would workout perfectly. If Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created Superman's story like LFOK, then there would be a whole bunch of fun and entertaining stories. This could be good and bad at the same time. When writers create "Elseworld" stories, they can kill, create or do whatever they want with the character, without sending a bad message to that particular character. So it just seems, to me that Elseworld stories are sort of like, writers "fun" or escapement from writing current story lines. Some writers do a good job at this. Others.... Well they create stuff like Jonah Hex's terrible movie. No offense. So like I said, this can be good or bad. Carry does a good job at incorporating Marthan and Jonathan Kent into the story. Letting them be the "perfect" role models of Jor-El and Lara's son, Kal-el. This was brilliant, and fitted in well with Clark growing up as a "norm" or normal human being of Earth. While Jor-El and Lara don't hide their powers, Clark could certainly do the same, however Carry did a good job fitting in certain pieces of the puzzle.

    The Bad

There's been something about "elseworld" stories and Superman. I liked "some" (and I do say some) elseworld Superman stories, however they never seemed like something that someone (lets say 20 years) would collect and would be over a million dollars. This may be good, and it also may be bad, but, when reading this It gets me thinking about what Superman's life (with his parents) could've been on earth. A lot of "current" stories could be "not" created, and some stories would have the element of Jor-El leading, "other" kryptonians (like in World Of New Krypton). This is sort of like that, however with a lot smaller group of kryptonians. So like I said it could be good or bad.

    The Verdict

LFOK (Last Family Of Krypton) is a great read! I would certainly pick this up, great things were thought, and put into this comic, to create a work of art. Issue two will contain Kal-el's twin siblings, which were born after, uh, Jor-el and Lara... Uh never mind, to find out read it yourself. Overall this is a 3.5 out of 5.

Superman, also known as Clark Kent and, Kal-El, has been one of the most noticeable icons in comic book history. Since coming to Earth under his “Last Son of Krypton” persona, he’s adopted more and more of an “earthling lifestyle”, even getting married to an Earth women, whom is also famous across the Comic Universe, her name Lois Lane. Superman survived the explosion of Krypton, and landed on Earth; he was then adopted by Martha and Jonathan Kent in a town called Smallville.   Since coming to E...

Superman what if doesnt occur like Sups would have wanted :P 0

This is a what if story about what would have happened if Jor-El(Superman's biological father) would have saved his family instead of just Kal-El. Well maybe the world would be a better place, with 3 Superhumans saving the world and such. But does the love and bonding of the family be affected by all of this? Well Spoilers point to yes. Jor-El distances himself from his family to to tend to his work and making the world a better place without informing it with his wife Lara. Lara wants their son...
