    In this first of two volumes, Imperiex, the ultimate conquering force, has been unleashed upon the Universe and it is making its way towards Earth. As worlds and planets are destroyed in its mighty wake, Earth itself is threatened as the planet becomes ravaged by fire and destruction. Desperate and taxed to his limits, Superman is forced to form uneasy alliances with President Lex Luthor and Darkseid, the malevolent despot ruler of Apokolips. But even these "deals with the devils" will not be enough to stop the onslaught or save the life of the hero King of Atlantis, Aquaman.
